of WW1, an excellent reference and research publication. The
book is tight and clean; it exhibits virtually no signs of age or wear.

Battalion, 5th Regiment, United States Marine Corps, 1918.
Approximately 7-1/4-inch wide x 9-1/2-inch high format, hard, illustrated,
front cover. 249 pages, many illustrations by the author, as well as a very
interesting, and sometimes comical record of the 1st Battalion, 5th
Regiment, United States Marine Corps in WW1. A light and informative read.
Overall the covers are in about Vg condition, they exhibit light to moderate
signs of age and soil; the corners and edges are moderately, (heavy in some
spots), bumped and worn from handling and storage. The binding is tight; the
pages are excellent, exhibiting minor yellowing around the edges from age.

Of Honor. By James Hopper. Copyright 1929, published by The John Day
Company, Inc. 5-1/8-inch wide x 8-1/4-inch high format, hard brown covers
with gold lettering, 281 pages, containing black & white illustrations,
and accompanying description of the, early life, and, act of heroism of, a
random selection of, eleven recipients of the Congressional Medal OF Honor
during the “Great War,” (WW1). The book also contains a complete list of
those who won the Congressional Medal Of Honor during WW1. A library copy;
no library marks on outside covers of the book. Exterior covers lightly aged
and worn; the spine is worn and darkened from age and has some ink marks.
Thick, pulp-like pages are lightly yellowed and have very light foxing

hard red covers with white lettering and illustration of the Red Cross flag.
333 pages, sixteen illustrations and historical text relating the early
story of the Red Cross; its origin, development, especially in America, its
services for humanity in times of peace and war. Loose binding; exterior
covers are lightly faded and aged; lightly bumped and worn corners; very
minor soil spots. The spine is worn and completely faded from age. Pulp-like
pages are lightly yellowed and have very light foxing marks. Overall Vg. $22.00 PHOTO

Hilaire Belloc, published by Williams & Norgate, London,
England; the date is unnoted, however, research supports circa 1912; a Home
University Library of Knowledge edition. Approximately 4-1/4-inch wide x
6-3/4-inch high format, hard red covers. 256 pages with several, small, page
size maps. A chronicle of warfare on English soil. The book covers English
strategical military topography, the Roman Conquest, the Norman Conquest,
Medieval Warfare, the Civil Wars and the Scotch Wars. The binding is loose
but intact; the exterior covers are aged and light to moderately soiled; the
corners are lightly bumped and worn, the spine has darkened from age and
handling. The pulp-like pages are lightly yellowed, some pages have small to
moderate size foxing spots; a few of the pages are loose. The inside covers
and flyleaves have darkened from age; the back flyleaf is present but has
become detached from the binding. Overall the book is intact and still quite
sturdy. An interesting read and somewhat of a collector’s book. About Vg-. $12.00 PHOTO

Doubleday, Page & Company, Garden City, New York. 5-inch x 8-3/8-inch
format, hard black & red covers with stylized Iron Cross design. 383
pages, several illustrations, drawings and halftone photos, as well as, a
halftone photo of Baron Manfred von Richthofen on one of the inside front
flyleaves. The book contains a table of Richthofen’s victories and final
defeat. The story of Baron von Richthofen, WW1 Germany’s Great War ace.
Light age; minor bumps on corners and along edges, very minor and
insignificant exterior wear; the binding is ever so slightly loose, (nothing
at all of a serious nature), the front cover is slightly warped from age and
storage (nothing at all of a serious nature). The interior pages are near
excellent. The front inside flyleaf is inscribed, “To Mr. Low From Mary
and Lewis Xmas 1927”. Interesting. $15.00 PHOTO

in 1920 by George Sully & Company, published by The Saalfield Publishing
Co, New York & Akron, Ohio. 5-inch wide x 7-5/8-inch high format, hard
covers with beautifully illustrated dust jacket. 214 pages, one
illustration. A fiction potboiler adventure novel. The dust jacket the best
feature of this book; it depicts advancing WW1 U.S. soldiers and has nice
early graphics, which are rendered in sort of a pastel coloring. The dust
jacket is in Vg or better condition and exhibits minor surface wear and
insignificant soil from very light handling and storage, (nothing at all
serious). The corners and edges exhibit some small paper chips, as well as,
two very short tears; one on the top and one on the bottom edge, (not
serious); the inside corners of the jacket are clipped. The exterior covers
are in excellent+ condition and the binding is tight. The interior pulp
pages are heavily yellowed; the first two pages have a slight tear on the
top edge from turning, and the paper on the back inside cover is coming
loose, otherwise the pages are in Vg+ condition. A nice old book with a
very nice dust jacket. Overall Vg. $15.00 PHOTO
