The Fourth Armored Division – From the Beach to Bavaria. With Original Dust Jacket. Copyright by Kenneth A. Koyen, printed BY Herder – Druck in Munich, Germany, in February 1946. 8-1/8-inch wide x 10-1/8-inch high format, hard, red/brown simulated pigskin covers and silver lettering. 296 pages of historical text, first person accounts of combat actions, many, great, full page combat photos and illustrations. A complete history of the 4th Armored Division's 230 days of combat in five campaigns in the European Theatre of Operations. The dust cover is in Very Poor condition; there is heavy wear from handling and storage, it’s torn in spots and there are pieces missing, however, it’s very difficult to find a dustcover for this book, in any condition. The covers are near excellent condition, exhibiting a few scuffs and bumps form handling and storage. The interior pages are in near excellent condition with overall yellowing from age. This book comes with two, loose, full-color, folded maps illustrating the route of the 4th Armor Division from D+36 to D+337. The large map, which is too large to scan completely, (25-inch wide x 12-5/8-inch high), is in beautiful condition; the small one, (13-1/4-inch wide x 8-1/2-inch high), has some tears and holes. This specimen is the third printing by Dillon/Liederbach, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio in 1978; same info as the first edition. 8-1/8-inch wide x 10-1/8-inch high format, hard tan covers with black lettering. 296 pages of historical text, first person accounts of combat actions, many, great, full page combat photos and illustrations. A complete history of the 4th Armored Division's 230 days of combat in five campaigns in the European Theatre of Operations. The binding is very slightly loose, not broke or damaged. The covers are light to moderately soiled from handling and storage. The corners and edges of the covers are lightly bumped and lightly worn through in some spots. The interior pages are in near excellent condition with light yellowing around the edges. A very popular unit history that is difficult to acquire. A very nice representative example. . 37th Armored Regiment – 4th Armored Division  - Pine Camp 1942. Published and copyright in 1941, by the Army and Navy Publishing Co. Inc., 9-1/8-inch wide x 12-1/4-inch high format, hard yellow covers, exhibiting an embossed, full color, 4th Armor patch and black lettering .A history - yearbook, of the 37th Armored Regiment for 1942 in Pine Camp, New York. `Approximately 130 pages, many black & white photos showing early Armor training, early equipment, early uniforms and other early equipment, such as vehicles, motorcycles, tanks and firearms. Hundreds and hundreds of individual photos of officers, NCO’s and enlisted men. The front of the book has a, hand-inked, inscription, signed by the commanding offer, certifying the named soldier is a member of the a4th Armored Division. The last page has three, hand-inked, signatures and addresses of Connecticut 4th Armored soldiers and the inscription “The Three Musketeers of Serviced Company 1942. The front and back covers exhibit heavy soil from handling and storage; the corners of the covers are bumped; the leading edges, at the corners are worn through the fabric. The book was subjected to moisture during storage; it has a water stain that pervades the covers and each page in the book; approximately 25% of each page is affected. Still, an acceptable representative example of a scarce, 4th Armored Regimental unit history. Priced accordingly. About Good. $135.00 PHOTO

47th Infantry Regiment - With Original Dust Jacket. Compiled by members of the 47th Infantry Regiment, although it’s not dated and doesn’t make any reference to who or where it was printed, the book has all of the characteristics of those unit histories that were printed in Germany at the end of the war. 8-3/8-inch wide x 11-3/4-inch high format, hard brown covers with white embossed lettering. 164 pages, many great black & white photos, illustrations, maps, some full color plates and full color illustrations of insignia and ribbons. The book documents the unit’s history from Ft. Bragg in 1940, North Africa, Palermo, England, D-Day plus 5 on Utah Beach, France, Belgium, Germany and to the end of the war and occupation duty in Bayreuth, Germany.  As part of the 9th Infantry Division, the 47th Inf. Rgt. participated in eight Campaigns. The dust cover is in very  poor condition; there is heavy wear from handling and storage, it’s torn and there are pieces missing, however, it’s very difficult to find a dustcover for this book, in any condition. The covers are near excellent condition, exhibiting some bumps on the corners. The covers are moderately warped.  Flyleaves are brown and have foxing. The interior pages are in near excellent condition with minor warping and light foxing spots on some pages. A very nice example of a scarce unit history that is very difficult to acquire. Squadron History – 92nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, (mechanized), - Stealth and Power. This history of a small unit, part of the 12th Armored, Hellcats, Division is quite a scarce; the unit arrived in the ETO late in 1944 through VE-Day. Although the book is not dated, it was published by Carl Edelmann, G.m.b.H., Heidenheim/Brenz, (Wurttemberg), and has all of the characteristics of those types of unit histories were printed in Germany at the end of the war. 6-1/2-inch wide x 9-inch high format, soft pulp paper covers with beautifully illustrated design of the unit’s distinctive insignia. 110 pages of concise historical text detailing the unit’s travel and combat actions. One black & white photo of the unit’s commander, as well as, a few black & white, comical, illustrations. The covers exhibit moderate to heavy signs of age and wear, as well as, moderate soil spots. There is one piece of old scotch tape on the binding at the bottom and some tape on the inside flyleaf. The interior pages are at least Vg, the exhibit some yellowing and have minor signs of moisture, (nothing severely damaging and not severely detracting). The German publisher’s name and address is printed across the bottom of the back cover. Because of the materials used in the construction of this book, it is unlikely that many examples survived the ravages of time. This one is a very sound and acceptable example. Overall about Vg. 2UHW2-16. History of the XVI Corps, From Its Activation to the End of the War in Europe.
First Edition, Copyright 1947 by Infantry Journal, Inc. 8-3/4-inch wide x 11-1/4-inch high format, hard, brick colored covers exhibiting a full color rendition of the Corps patch on the front. 112 pages, many black & white photos, illustrations, several colored illustrated maps, as well as, interesting charts & graphs, and a full color page of Divisional patches of the Corps. Some of the Divisions under the command of the XVI Corps were; 79th Inf. Div., 5th Inf. Div., 8th Armored Div., 35th Inf. Div., 15th Cavalry Group, 30th Inf. Div., 29th Inf. Div, 17th Airborne Div., 95th Inf. Div., as well as, the British 7th Armored Division; a section, in the back of the book, has a complete listing of all of the units under the command of the Corps. In 1943, prior to its departure to the European Theatre of Operation, the XVI Corps trained Divisions for overseas service; The Corps landed on Omaha Beach in September of 1944 and processed troops arriving in Normandy;’ they guarded against attacks from German troops stranded in the Channel Islands; they saw combat in the Ardennes, Roher River, and Siegfried Line; Venlo, Maas River, Holland, Rhineburg, Germany, Rhine River, Fort Bluecher, Ruhr Encirclement, Essen, Dortmund, and occupation in Westphalia, Germany. Tight binding; the covers and pages are in excellent condition; nicely illustrated interior covers and flyleaves; excellent overall condition. $125.00 PHOTO SOLD

Copyright 1946, by the 45th Infantry Division, published and printed by the Army & Navy Publishing Co., Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 9-1/4-inch wide x 12-inch high format, dark blue hard covers; front cover depicts a full color, embossed, design of the “Thunderbird” divisional patch; the embossed wording, “Forty Fifth Infantry Division, and six embossed stars next to the names of the campaigns the unit participated in, namely: Sicily; Naples-Foggia; Rome-Arno; Southern France; Rhineland and Central Europe. 202 pages with many great black & white photos, colored maps, as well as historical text of the unit’s activities in the European Theatre of Operations during WW2. Originally formed from the Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado National Guard. North Africa, assault landing at Sicily, Operation Husky, Assault landing at the Gulf of Salerno, Volturno River, assault landing at Anzio, Operation Shingle, Cassino, Rome, Operation Anvil, Assault landing at Cannes, France, Moselle River, Vosges, Rambervillers, Mortange River, Maginot Line, Metz, Siegfried Line, Homberg, Rhine River, Nurnberg, Danube River, Munich, liberation of Dachau and occupation duty. The 45th Division fought 511 days of combat in eight campaigns. The covers are in Vg condition, exhibiting light age, moderate wear in some spots, as well as some small spots of what appears to be white paint, (nothing seriously detracting), and minor light soil from handling. The cloth, covering the binding, is intact; the binding itself is tight; the front and back flyleaves are printed with the map of the unit’s movements in the ETO, (edges of flyleaves have yellowed from age); pages are excellent. Eight Stars To Victory – A History of the Veteran 9th U.S. Infantry Division Copyright in 1948 by The Ninth Infantry Division Association, Washington, 13, D.C. 8-1/8-inch wide x 10-inch high format, hard textured covers with gold embossed design depicting the units patch; the letter “V” with eight gold stars and crossed Infantry rifles. 407 pages, many great black & white photos, illustrations and historical text providing a complete history of the 9th Infantry Divisions 's 304 days of combat, in eight campaigns, in the European Theatre of Operations. The 9th Infantry Division has the ominous distinction of being the second highest division in total causalities with over 23,000 men killed or wounded. European Theatre of Operations. North Africa, Algiers, Morocco, French Morocco, Tunisa, Bizerte and Sicily. Back to England in 1943 for additional training, Utah Beach, D-Day + 4. Cotentin Penninsula, Cherbourg, St. Lo, Falise Gap, Chateau Thierry, Belgium, Meuse River, Roetgen, Saarlautern, Schwammanauel Dam, Battle of the Bulge, Roer River, Ramagen Bridge, Mulde River, Dessau. The binding is slightly loose, (nothing damaging or unsightly), the covers are in Vg condition; they exhibit light age, as well as light, (moderate in some spots), wear from handling. The front and back flyleaves are printed with the map of the unit’s movements in the ETO, (very minor yellowing on the edges of the flyleaves); the pages are in excellent condition. Yearbook, Circa  (1946), of Army Air Corps Wing II, Indoctrination Division, Air Training Command, San Antonio, Texas. No copyright information, the book appears to be slightly post WW2 as there is mention of a 1946 date. 8-inch wide x 10-3/4-inch high format, hard, dark blue covers, impressed design depicts A gold colored, flying number “2” and the Army Air Force Star, superimposed on a very large word, “WING;” bottom edge is impressed, “I.D.T.R.C. – San Antonio, Texas.” Approximately 64 pages, each page has one, to several, black & white captioned photos of staff members and several different training squadrons in operation. This particular Training Division is responsible for the training of 5283 basic trainees; there are five training departments covering: Field Training; Information & Education; Pre-marksmanship; Medical Aids and Physical Training, combined, presenting instructions that are not offered at regular basic training squadrons. Tight binding; the covers exhibit light to moderate spots of wear and are moderately aged and soiled from storage; interior pages are in Vg condition; signs of moisture along bottom edges of the pages,  (not severely damaged or unsightly). Several of the pages and flyleaves are hand annotated by the original owner. The last two, blank, pages have many signatures of the owners “chums.” Overall about Vg. $59.00 PHOTO


2UHW2-20. Yearbook, 20th Marines, (Engineer), Camp Pendleton, California 1943.
Published by the Army and Navy Publishing Company of Louisiana. 9-1/4-inch wide x 12-1/8-inch high format, hard, red covers; the impressed and embossed design depicts the USMC eagle, globe & anchor design, impressed wording, “Camp Pendleton, California 1943; “20th Marines (Engineer)” and “U.S.M.C.” words are impressed in gold that is tarnished. The first few, un-numbered, pages provide a history of the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as a brief history of Camp Pendleton. Most of the yearbook exhibits black & white photographs of Marine training activities and thumbnail photos of the men of, First Battalion & 2nd Battalion, whom are Marines and 3rd Battalion, whom Navy personnel. Tight binding; the front cover exhibits light signs of age, as well as minor soil from handling and storage; the back cover exhibits moderate age and soil in some spots; interior pages are near excellent. Nice, wartime dated, Marine Corp yearbook. Overall Vg. $95.00 PHOTO

History Of The 38th Infantry Division. Copyright 1947, by Peyton Hoge, published by Albert Love Enterprises. 9-inch wide x 12-1/8-inch high format, cream-colored covers with simulated green creases giving the appearance of leather. The front cover depicts a full color, embossed, design of the 38th Infantry’s divisional patch; the embossed wording, “38th Infantry Division,” as well as an impressed map showing the unit’s movements in the PTO. A large size, heavy book of approximately 350 un-numbered pages, most of the pages have one or two spectacular black & white captioned photos, there are hundreds of them), showing battle scenes and daily combat, as well as R & R activities in the PTO. The text section has many illustrations. A very large roster comprised the back section of the book, Pre-WW2 the 38th Division was allocated to the Indiana, Kentucky and the West Virginia National Guard. Activated in January 1941; they participated in the Louisiana Maneuvers and trained for amphibious operations in Florida. The unit’s first mission was to protect the Gulf Coast, as well as a Training Division. In January 1944 the unit embarked for Hawaii as part of the defense force of Oahu. After aditional training in Hawaii the unit embarked for New Guinea in July of 1944 serving as “mopping-up” forces. In December the unit embarked for Leyte where they engaged and defeated Japanese Paratroopers attempting to seize the Buri, Bayug and San Pablo airstrips; once secured they defended them until being relieved in January 1945. Landing on the coast of Manila the unit participated in “Musketeer Operations, driving to Subic Bay, capturing Grand Island in an amphibious assault. In February 1954 the division split some landing on the tip of the Bataan Peninsula and some at the neck of the peninsula at the location of the infamous Bataan Death March. As the 38th Infantry cleared the Bataan Peninsula they became known as The Avengers of Bataan. The 38th Division continued assaults on Corregidor Island, Manila Bay, Caballo Island, the Shimbu Line and moping up in Eastern Luzon until the ultimate surrender of the Japanese forces. The 38th Division fought in two campaigns with a loss of over 3,460 men. The covers are in Vg condition, exhibiting light age and moderate wear in some spots; yellowing around the edges of the pages from handling and storage. The spine is overall yellowed and moderately worn; binding is a little loose; pages are Vg+. Great photography. Overall Vg. $195.00 PHOTO SOLD
