WW1 British Victory Medal Marked, SR-6471 GNR. C. G. DAVIS. R. A. (Royal Artillery)

The front of the medal depicts a winged woman, wearing a flowing robe, holding an olive branch in one hand and has an overall dull brass finish, which is light to moderately aged, lightly worn on the highlights and has tiny spots of tarnish. The backside is embossed, “The Great War for civilization 1914-1919,” and has a Laurel wreath border and exhibits light to moderate, (in some spots), tarnish. The multi-colored, ribbon is clean and exhibits light age and wear from handling and use; the top edges of the ribbon are tattered and missing some material and appears to have been attached to a ribbon bar at some time. WW1 British 1914 – 1915 Star, Marked, 15973, GNR. S. MC DONALD. R. F. A.  (Royal Field Artillery)
Brit1415star2KsMcDonald.JPG (43297 bytes) 1BW1-2.  A heavy bronze medal stamped in the shape of a four-armed star the face of the star bears a furled banner with the date “1914 – 1915, an oak leaf wreath and crossed swords; the top arm of the star is formed with a British Kings Crown, which also servers as a suspension loop for the ribbon; the bottom arm bears an embossed letter, “C” with the letter “V” in the center. The backside of the star is stamped, “15973, GNR. S. MC DONALD. R. F. A. The front and backside are light to moderately aged, worn and tarnished. The red, white and blue, blurred edge, ribbon is in excellent condition and is most likely a replacement. Overall near Vg+. $59.00 SOLD

The front of the medal depicts a winged woman, wearing a flowing robe, holding an olive branch in one hand and retains approximately 95%, or more, of its original bright gold finish, which exhibits very light wear, light surface scratches, as well as very light tarnish. The backside is embossed, “The Great War for civilization 1914-1919,” and has a Laurel wreath border and retains approximately 98%, or more, of its original bright gold finish, which exhibits very light wear on the highlights, very light surface scratches, as well as very light tarnish. The unusually long, multi-colored, ribbon is clean and exhibits heavy wear, as well as some separation of the material in the area where the ribbon passes through the suspension ring, (still quite sound). About Vg+. $35.00
