1BM-1. The front of the medal depicts a
profile of George VI and is circumscribed, “GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: ONM:
REX ET INDIAE IMP:,” and has an overall matte silver finish, which is
lightly worn, lightly aged and has an overall matte silver finish, which
is light to moderately aged, lightly worn and slightly tarnished. The
backside depicts a triumphant lion standing on a two headed
“bird/animal: and has the date 1939-1945. The red, blue and white
striped ribbon is clean; it’s very lightly aged and the colors have
very slightly dulled over the years; the ribbon is attached to the medal
by a horizontal suspension bar. The top edge of the ribbon is
slipped through, and sewn onto, a heavy cast brass suspension device
that has a thin wire attaching pin and a cast brass pin catch; the
suspension device has a tab on the bottom edge, which would allow the

IND: IMP.” The reverse exhibits an embossed design of a British Kings
Crown above a small oak tree between two rampant lions/griffins; the
design is circumscribed The Defense Medal 1039 – 1945.” The front
and backside of the medal have an overall matte silver finish, which is
moderately worn, lightly aged and have light to moderate, scuffs,
scratches, as well as tiny nicks and dings associated with light
handling and use; there are minor spots of tarnish on each side. The
green ribbon has two thin black stripes with an orange central stripe;
the ribbon is very lightly aged with slight wear; there are some light
fold creases and a very light water mark; the ribbon is attached to the
