WW1 German Black Wound Badge - For One Or Two Wounds - Metal Alloy

Wound4BlkWW1.JPG (51120 bytes)

3GW1-33. Stamped metal alloy badge, depicting, in high relief, a WW1 style German helmet, superimposed over crossed swords on a stippled background with an oak leaf wreath edge. Hollow back construction, brass needle pin and brass hooked wire pin catch device. Light signs of age and wear; the black painted finish appears to be a vintage repaint as the paint on the helmet is worn through to what appears to be the original black painted finish. The repaint ha filed in some of the detail on the wreath; approximately 85% of the repainted finish remains. The backside retains 99% of its repainted finish. A nice example. Vg. $36.00

WW1 German Iron Cross 2nd Class - On A Parade Mount
W1Ic2ndParadeMount.JPG (62292 bytes)

3GW1-34. Three-piece construction, the magnetic center retains approximately 99% of its matte black finish, which appears to be a vintage touch-up, (very nicely done), and has a sort of textured appearance. The front exhibits an embossed crown, the letter “W,” and is dated 1914; the backside exhibits an embossed crown, the letters “FW,” oak leaves and it is dated 1813. The silver metal frame and trim exhibit moderate to heavy tarnish are very lightly worn from handling and light use; the frame is heavily tarnished black from age. The medal is suspended from a WW1 Iron Cross ribbon that is fancily draped over a brass plate, on the backside; the plate has a heavy, horizontal, attaching pin and a flat, brass, pin catch, as well as a bright red wool covering. The wool covering on the backside is aged, soiled and has a large moth hole, as well as a small hole and overall moth tracking. The ribbon exhibits moderate age and soil and has some areas of moderate wear from handling, (nothing of a serious nature). A nice variation with lots of age and character. Vg-. $115.00 SOLD

WW1 Black Wound Badge – Cutout Variation With Unique Diagonal Attaching Pin
WoundBlkWW1CutOutDiag.JPG (56901 bytes) 3GW1-35. 1-3/4-inch, oval, lightweight stamped brass badge, depicting a highly detailed, WW1 style, German helmet, superimposed on crossed swords, which are surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The front of the badge retains approximately, 98%, or more of its original black finish, which is very lightly worn on some of the highlights. The metal areas between the helmet and swords are precisely cut out, which enhances the detail and provides a unique appearance. The hollow backside exhibits an aged, brownish/red, anodized finish and it has a variation, safety pin type, attaching pin, which is soldered behind one of the swords, on a diagonal angle, so it cannot be seen when the badge is attached to a uniform. A highly desirable variation of the WW1 Black Wound badge. Excellent. $110.00 SOLD
