| Schutzpolizei
Wachtmeister, Single Slip On Shoulder Board & Single Collar Tab Set |
 |
5GC-69. The shoulder board has bright silver
cord, along two sides, with brown cloth “V’s” and brown cord center,
with Schutzpolizei green wool backing; the backside has a long narrow, green
wool attaching tab. The front of the board is in excellent condition with
some insignificant silver thread pulls; the backside has overall moth nips
that do not actually completely penetrate through the fabric, as well as
four actual, moderate to large size moth holes. The machine embroidered
collar tab has a silver top with Police green, background and a silver/gray
aluminum twisted silver cord border edge; the collar tab is machine sewn
onto Police green wool backing with a buckram insert. The front of the
collar tab is in near excellent condition, showing extremely light and
insignificant signs of age; the cord piping has a gray, lightly tarnished
appearance, and has come partly unstitches in spots along the edges of the
tab. The backside has heavy mothing on the wool backing, (the mothing does
not show from the front); the buckram stiffener is in excellent condition.
Overall the backsides would rate about Vg- because of the mothing; the front
of the board and tab are near excellent and display very nicely together;
(no mothing can be seen from the front). A
nice example.

Youth Rank Pip For DJ & Marine-HJ |
 |
5GC-81.
A small silver gray thread rank pip, machine embroidered in the center of
a, 2-3/8-inch diameter, very dark blue wool patch. Before1938 this insignia
was worn on the lower left sleeve but was raised to the upper right sleeve
in May 1939 it was worn by the DJ as “Jungenschaftsfuhrer;”
the Marine-DJ rank is, kameradschaftsfuhrer.”
There is overall moth tracking on the wool knap, (because of the dark
color it is not easily seen and not a particular detraction), there are no actual
moth holes.
The reverse is backed with black, lightweight, open weave material. There are small specks of paper attached to the backside that are
remnants of an RZM tag. Appears to be unused. Vg. $12.00

| Luftwaffe NCO
Feldwebel - Flying Troops & Paratroopers Shoulder Boards – A Very
Slightly Mismatched Pair |
 |
5GC-83. Luftwaffe blue/gray wool top with,
matte-silver NCO tresse on three sides and golden/yellow rayon, (artificial
silk), piping; each board has a matching silver colored pip. The underside
is constructed of Luftwaffe blue/gray wool, as are the attaching tongues;
there is a 5/8-inch wide strip of gray cotton, “HBT,” (herringbone
twill), material sewn along the full length of the backside to provide
strength and body to the board. These boards exhibit moderate to near heavy
signs of age with moderate soil, as well as some light areas of white
deterioration on the silver tress, (nothing serious). The yellow piping is
moderately soiled form use and the pips have aged to a gray finish with very
minor signs of silver in the crevices of the design. These boards are
slightly mismatched but they came to me together and I have to believe that
they have always been together; they have the same age, same wear and soil
and were apparently used as a pair; there are very subtle differences in the
boards that are not too evident at a casual glance; the most obvious
difference is that one board is slightly larger than the other and the
yellow piping on one board extends further into the tongue area than the
other board. If these boards were installed on a uniform, the differences
would not be obvious at all. No mothing. A decent set. Vg-. $59.00
