German Luftwaffe Pilot
- Paratrooper Wrist Compass, Marked AK 39, Fl 23235-1
|
 |
1GCE-1. 2-3/8-inch
diameter x 7/8-inch high, black plastic body, liquid filled, compass with
a rotating, clear plastic, bezel. The compass is fitted with an,
adjustable, smooth black leather wrist strap, which is attached to the
black plastic base by means of a metal stud on each end of the strap; the
strap is long enough to be used over thick winter clothing. The center of
the bezel face has a red circle, which allows the used to level the
compass by using a small bubble in the interior liquid. A black
centerline, with a white tip and reddish plastic sighting devices is used
to line up the settings. The interior of the compass has a red “N” for
north, as well as black lines ticked off in degrees; the numbers have a
dot of fluorescent material, which has long ago lost its lighting
capabilities.
The backside is marked, “AK 39, Fl 23235-1;” the bottom of the
backside has a sliding opening so a map can be viewed through the top of
the compass face. This specimen is complete and in excellent operating
condition; the leather straps are in excellent condition and the unit
appears to have seen very little use, if any; it does exhibit very light
and insignificant signs of age from handling and storage and there are
some light surface scratches on the face of the bezel, but nothing that
presents itself as a serious problem. A compass that was in general
use by Luftwaffe pilots and Fallschirmjager units. Truly a beautiful piece
that is sure to enhance any collection. Overall excellent. $225.00 SOLD

Eyeglass Frames For Wearing Prescription
Lenses Under The Gas Mask, With Original Manufacturers Tag &
Glassine Envelope |
 |
1GCE-2 / 1GMS-11. Light gray colored,
lightweight, metal eyeglass frames with 1-1/2-inch diameter openings ready
to accept prescription lenses. The frames have a, very thin, adjustable,
gray cotton strap on each side that is designed to be worn around each
ear; the close fit of the gas mask helps stabilize the glasses and the
thinness of the cotton strap does not interfere with the airtight seal
that is needed around the face. This specimen is in excellent unused
condition and has never been fitted with lenses. A, diamond shaped, paper
makers label is hung from the frame it’s marked with the makers
trademark and the following words, “G..Rodenstock, Munchen,Prima
Hartnickel; the backside of
the label is marked, “Kat. No., Norm. No. 6660.” Also included is the
original, matching, glassine envelop that came with the glasses; the
envelope is tattered and has rips, tears and holes but is mostly intact
and will display quite well; the envelope is marked with the makers
trademark and, “Normal-Nr.6660, Vorschriftsmassige Militar-Masken-Brille,
Optische Werke G. Rodenstock, Munchen 15.” Ready to accept your

| German Military
Compass - Unusual Variation, Not Often Encountered |
 |
1GCE-3. This
German military compass is a variation that we have not encountered
before; the overall dimensions are approximately 3-inch long x 2-1/2- inch
wide x 1-inch high; it’s a heavy and a very sturdy made example. The
base is constructed of black painted alloy metal; one side of the base has
a map scale with white numbers from, “0” to “5,” with ten
increments between each number; a thick, 1-1/4-inch diameter, aluminum
lanyard ring is attached to the base. The compass face is 2-1/4-inch
diameter and has a movable, black painted, bezel ring with white numbers
from, “1” to “64,” with four increments between each number, a
screw on the side of the base locks and unlocks the bezel, however, the
compass face is always in movement. The face of the compass is viewed
through a 1-5/8-inch double thick glass, which is printed with a vertical
arrow, a horizontal line and the words, “West & Ost,” printed on
either side of the arrow. The white painted metal face of the compass is
balanced on a stylus, (not a wet compass); the face has an arrow and tiny
black numbers from, “1” to “64,” with ten increments between each
number; There is a second row of numbers, concentric, and identical to the
first, except they are backwards; the backwards numbers are viewed, in
their correct position, when looking through the flip-up prismatic viewer,
on the front of the compass, which is used when making compass sightings.
The compass has a stamped metal, hinged, lid, which has a Parkerized-like
finish; there is a 2-inch diameter piece of plastic is cut into the lid
allowing the compass to be viewed when the lid is closed; the glass is
bisected, vertically, by a very thin black line and the metal lid has a
vertical arrow on the bottom left corner. The compass is lightly aged and
shows signs of light use; approximately 95%, or more of the original black
and Parkerized-like finish still remains; the plastic in the lid has some
very insignificant surface scratches and blemishes; the glass face of the
compass is clear except for some insignificant interior dust and a
moderate milky blemish directly in the center. The face of the compass is
95% intact; the compass is in good working order. A unique
variation. No maker markings. Vg+. $75.00

| Interlocking
Eating Utensil Set, Rostfrei, (Stainless) |
 |
1GCE-4. Interlocking knife, fork, spoon and
can opener set, usually referred to as an officer utensil set. Each piece
interlocks with the other pieces for storage. Each utensil is stamped with
company logo and “G.K, & F. 42.” The spoon, fork and can opener
are stamped with a, Political style, short winged German eagle and
swastika; the knife has the additional marking, “Rostfrei,”
(Stainless); the knife matches the set but does not have the eagle
marking. Each utensil exhibits light signs of age and minor wear for
actual use; the fork and spoon have a few very minor, (tiny), black rust
spots; the knife has not been sharpened, however there are some heavy
black spotting on the handle and the can opener has similar, but less,
spotting on its tip, as the set must have been resting on that spot for
years. A previous owner has attempted to clean the spots, which would have
been better off left alone. A very worthy example and somewhat
difficult to acquire in matching condition. Overall Vg. $65.00

 |
1GCE-5. Approximately 4-1/4-inch wide x 1-3/8-inch high x
3-1/8-inch deep, reddish-brown Bakelite box with tight fitting removable
lid; the exterior top of the lid bears its original paper label, which is
about 99% intact; the label has an overall yellowish appearance with soil
and smudges from handling. The label is marked “3 Stuck S.Mi.Z.35. R R
482 Lieferung 53 abgenommen,” the label has ink stamped Waffenamt,
“Wa.A542” and is dated 23.9.1939. The interior of the lid bears
another paper label, which is about 98% intact and explains the basic use
of the fuse; the bottom interior of the box has a label marked exactly as
the label on the exterior lid; this label is about 98% intact and is
slightly more soiled but more legible than its companion label. The
Bakelite box is in overall Vg+, or better, condition; the exterior and

Single, K98 Rifle 3-Pocket Ammo Pouch with Original WW2
German 8mm Training Rounds - Inert
|
 |
1GCE-7.
Black, pebbled
grain leather, 3-pocket, single, ammo pouch for WW2 German 8mm K98 rifle
rounds. The
leather on this example exhibits light, to near moderate, signs of age and
wear to the black surface finish, in some spots, as well as very light,
dusty, storage soil; the leather is soft and supple; the front straps are
soft, supple and intact, they exhibit moderate, to near heavy signs of age
and use around the eyelet where it attaches to the bottom stud, (not
actually damage and still quite serviceable); the leather has not been
oiled, polished or otherwise tampered with. Aluminum hardware is used
throughout and is in excellent condition and all of the “black”
stitching is completely intact. The backside has two leather belt loops
and one “D” ring; the backside is impressed with the maker’s name,
“Wilh.Brand, Heidelberg,” and is dated 1940. The interior of the
pouches exhibit light to moderate signs of age but show little signs of
actual use; the sinew material used to separate the strippers is still
completely intact. Also included with this pouch are fifteen original WW2
8mm training rounds; ten rounds are on original K98 stripper clips and
five rounds are loose; one of the loose rounds is missing its projectile.
All of the rounds and strippers are non-magnetic and are most likely
brass, they all exhibit a gray tarnished finish, as well as attic soil
from years of storage; each round has one hole drilled in the body and the
primers are drilled out, making them incapable of firing; each of these
training rounds has been made with fluted sides so they cannot be mistaken
for a live round, even in the dark. The head stamps and dates are fairly
discernable on many of the rounds. The rounds would rate about Vg; the
pouch is near Vg+. Neat. $75.00 SOLD

German Army Issue Pocket Knife
|
 |
1GCE-9.
Typical German Army issue folding pocketknife. Approximately 7-1/4-inch
overall opened length with a 3-1/4-inch, bright steel, blade and green
painted metal grip. Moderate to heavy sharpening scratches on the blade,
as well as, deep red and black rust spots along the top edge of the blade.
The metal grips retain approximately 65% of their original green paint,
which is worn to the base metal, in some spots, from handling and use. One
side of the metal grip is a heavily rusted near the blade end and there
are other moderate to heavy spots of rust on other parts of the grips.
Unfortunately, the description may tend to make the condition of the knife
seem worse than it really is; it’s a very worthy representative
example. Unmarked, as many of them were. About Vg-. SCARCE.

| K98 Grenade
Launcher Kit Pouch - Pouch Only - Empty |
|

|
1GCE-11. A
smooth black leather pouch designed to carry the grenade launcher, grenade
launcher sight and grenade launcher tool for the WW2 German K98 rifle. The
pouch is approximately 4-inch wide at the top and tapers to about 2-inch
wide at the bottom and is 10-1/4-inch overall in length; the top opening
has leather tabs sewn onto each side and has a large leather flap closure
at the top, which is secured by a leather strap and gray painted steel
stud. An adjustable, olive colored, ribbed, cotton web strap is separately
stitched to each side of the pouch near the top opening. The end of one
strap has a gray painted steel, roller lock buckle; approximately 95% of
the original gray paint still remains, the buckle is stamped; this side of
the strap also has its original sliding belt loop retainer. The buckle is
stamped with the maker’s mark, which is not completely legible beneath
the paint, the letters appears to be, “D&O,” but I am not
absolutely sure.
The web strap is crimped to the buckle using a metal device, which
is marked, “LUX.” The end of the other strap has a tapered and pointed
metal tip, which is crimped to the webbing; his piece is stamped, “LYX,”as
well. A, single, wide belt loop is sewn onto the backside and is stamped,
“cxb 42,” (the manufacturer code for Joseph Moll, Goch (NW), Germany);
the belt loop is also Waffenamt, what appears to be, “WaA210.” The
large interior, of the pouch, has two leather separators, which are used
to secure some of the grenade launcher components. The leather is soft and
supple, it exhibits light signs of age, as well as dusty surface soil from
storage; the leather is stitched with heavy, white, cord; the stitching is
completely intact and still retains its original white color. The olive
colored web strap exhibits light age, some insignificant wear and is
moderately soiled, in some spots, from handling and storage, (nothing at
all serious); the metal parts exhibit light age and minor surface wear to
their finishes. POUCH ONLY. A great K98 accessory. Nice.

| Walther 27mm
Flare Pistol With black leather Holster, Shoulder Strap & Cleaning
Rod |
 |
1GCE-12. A
really nice set up consisting of a 27mm, short barrel, (6-1/16-inch,
breach to muzzle), aluminum flare pistol with a smooth, bright, blue/black
finish; the Carl Walther Firm manufactured the pistol late in the 1930’s
and it was used throughout WW2. This specimen is in excellent working
condition; it retains approximately 95% of its original finish with most
of the wear, caused by the holster, at the end of the barrel, (one side of
the barrel has more finish wear than the other side); there is also light
wear to the finish on some of the highlights; one screw that has several
short scratches around it; the exterior exhibits other very minor
scratches, scuffs and blemishes, which are consistent with very light
handling and minimal use. The interior of the barrel is bright and clean
with very light signs of age and use. The dark brown, checkered, Bakelite
grips exhibit only slight signs of handling. The left side of the frame
bears the “Walther Banner” logo design; it is also stamped,
“Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thur.); it is dated, “1937” and
serial numbered “1288c.” The right side of the frame, breach area,
trigger, trigger guard and opening mechanism are stamped with several
Waffenamt’s, as well as inspectors’ proofs and other arsenal marks.
Overall the pistol is in near excellent condition and was very well taken
care of. The early style, smooth, black leather holster is designed to
hold the 27mm short barrel flare pistol; the holster is approximately
7-inch wide, (at its widest spot), x 11-1/2-inch high, tapering to about
2-1/4-inch wide. There is a large leather flap closure at the top, which
is secured by a leather strap that passes through a heavy rectangular
bracket that protrudes through an, oval, metal re-enforced hole on the
front of the flap. The front of the holster also has a circular socket and
belt strap with buckle to secure the flare gun cleaning tool. The backside
has double, vertical, belt loops, as well as two metal for attaching the
shoulder strap; the shoulder strap is attached to the “D-rings” by
means of two large, sturdy snap hooks on each end of the shoulder strap.
The holster exhibits overall light to moderate surface scratches, scuff,
and blemishes to the finish from handling and use; the leather is in Vg to
near Vg+ condition, it’s sound, supple and completely serviceable. The
fold over flap at the top edge of the holster exhibits light to moderate
cracking of the leather, however, the leather is still very sound in that
area. The leather is marked, on the front, under the flap, “Carl Kuntze,
Penig. Sa.” And is dated 1935. The leather shoulder strap exhibits
moderate to heavy signs of age cracking, but it is still very strong,
sound and serviceable. The heavy steel rod cleaning tool is approximately
8-1/2-inch long, the bottom end has an aluminum plug that is the exact
size as the interior diameter of the barrel; the top end is formed in the
shape of an oval handle; a leather tab with a heavy snap clip is attached
to the handle; the handle is stamped with an early style Waffenamt and the
letters “GL” and the number “36,” (probably the date); the metal
rod exhibits age and has a dark patina. The part of the leather strap that
secures the cleaning tool handle has become unattached, (the loop part
that holds the end of the belt); everything is still secure and can
function perfectly without the loop. A RARE, very collectible set
that came together as a direct veteran purchase. Overall
condition: Shoulder strap about Vg-; the holster is about Vg+ and the
pistol is very close to Excellent, or better. $850.00

Black Leather Neck-Strap For German Binocular
|
 |
1GCE-14BRF. 3/8-inch
wide x 37-1/2-inch long black leather strap, with a black metal stud and
stud hole on each end; designed to be used as a neck strap for almost any
WW2 German binocular that will accept a 3/8-inch wide strap. This is
an original WW2 period piece not a reproduction or homemade example.
The strap has been used, however, it is in near excellent condition; the
leather is soft, supple and completely serviceable. There are black marks,
on the unfinished side, where the strap once rubbed against the metal
fixture on the binocular when it was in use, (nothing damaging or
detracting). A very difficult accessory to find. Used. Vg+. $35.00
