Hungarian Nazi, Fascist, Levente Youth Cap Badge |
 |
1GM-3.
1-3/8-inch wide x 1-3/4-inch high, shield shaped, thin
stamped brass badge, which was worn on the front of the Hungarian
Levente Youth forage cap. The front of the badge bears the Hungarian
crown and double armed cross taken from the Hungarian national coat of
Arms shield; the letter “L” is stamped below the cross and
Represents the Hungarian Fascist Levente movement; Prince Levente was a
prominent figure in early Hungarian history. The badge has a stamped oak
leaf border and a banner at the top that reads, “Sten Haza Kiraly,”
which translates as, “God, Fatherland, King.” The badge exhibits
heavy signs of age and use; approximately 40% of the original painted
finish remains on the front of the badge, the paint is thin and has
darkened over years; the badge has toned to a dark tarnished brass where
the paint is chipped or has worn off. The backside exhibits a tarnished
brass finish; only part of the original attaching pin still remains;
there is a very tiny hole on the upper right corner and at the bottom
tip of the badge, these holes were used to sew the badge to a cap due to
the missing part of the attaching pin. A very RARE Axis Youth
badge. Ref.

 |
1GM-4. Approximately 2-7/8-inch wide x
2-7/8-inch high, hand embroidered, cloth version of the German Cross in
gold, with gold metal laurel wreath dated 1941, (date of institution),
and very dark blue/gray, wool edge trim

to the highlights of the gold metal wreath; no soil. This example has
been removed from a uniform; two original thread remnants still remain. A very

| DLV (Deutsche
Luftsport Verband) German Air Sports Association Visor Cap Insignia |
 |
1GM-5CCE. 2-3/4-inch wide x 1-1/4-inch high, two-piece, visor cap
insignia depicting a black enameled swastika superimposed on a
silver-plated winged propeller device, which is separately applied onto
a red enameled circle. The surface of the black enamel on the swastika
exhibits moderate to heavy signs of wear, and surface scratching; the
black enamel has one small and one tiny “blow hole,” which are not
chips but appear to be a factory blemish that was there when the
insignia was originally manufactured, (nothing serious). The
silver-plating on the propeller and wings is heavily worn and tarnished;
the tips of the wings are slightly bent to conform to the shape of the
hatband it was once on, (a normal situation with some used insignia).
The red enamel on the background circle is intact and has overall light
surface scratches and some light soil. The silver trim around the design
is moderately to heavily worn and tarnished, in some spots. The backside
exhibits an overall, aged and tarnished silver-plated finish and has
two, hardened brass, attaching pins. The backside is maker marked,
“Wilh. Deumer, Ludenscheid, Ges. Gesch.” Overall, this insignia
exhibits age and wear consistent with an insignia that was actually used
for many years. DLV insignia has always been somewhat elusive and
difficult to acquire. Vg-. $165.00 SOLD |

| Army "ARTILLERY"
Marksmanship Lanyard Grade 7, With The 1939 Pattern, Eagle, Sword &
Shield Design |
 |
1GM-9. Instituted
in 1936, the marksmanship lanyard was constructed of a thick, matte
aluminum, cord braided to form a rope like design; a highly detailed,
matte, light gray aluminum alloy shield indicates the marksman’s basic
grade. This grade 7 lanyard depicts, 1939 pattern crossed swords,
superimposed on a shield, which is surmounted by a German Army style
eagle, standing on a swastika; the eagle design is enclosed by an oak
leaf wreath. A woven silver loop on the top end of the lanyard is used
to attach the lanyard to a button that is located under the right
shoulder board; another woven silver loop at the bottom of the lanyard,
attaches to the second button on the front of the tunic. This Artillery
Gunner type lanyard has the addition of two, gray metal, Artillery
shells attached near the bottom loop, indicating two successive awards.
The front of this specimen is in excellent+ condition with very
insignificant signs of age from handling and storage; the silver braid
is 100% intact. The aluminum eagle, sword and shield device is in
excellent+ condition with no actual wear, but it has a few, very small
surface dings from handling and storage. The Artillery shells have a
slight darkening from handling, otherwise they are in excellent+
condition. The backside of the braid has a silver/gray ribbed material
backing, which is hand stitched to the silver braided cord; the backing
material has picked up some very minor and insignificant soil from
handling and storage, (not detraction and very insignificant). The area
behind the aluminum eagle, sword and shield device is backed with thin
gray/green wool felt material, which has several small moth holes and
bites, (nothing serious). A beautiful example of a German Army
Artillery Marksman Lanyard in excellent condition. Scarce with
Artillery shells. Near excellent. $225.00 SOLD |

| Kuban Shield On
German Army Wool Backing |
 |
1GM-11.
Approximately, (including the wool backing), 2-5/8-inch wide
x 3-inch high award depicting a deeply stamped and embossed, bronze
colored, metal shield depicting a German Army style eagle and swastika,
which is flanked by the date 1943; the word, “KUBAN,” is embossed in
block letters across the center of the shield. The bottom half of the
shield depicts a fortress like design, as well as four impressed names,
representing significant places of fighting during the battles fought to
preserve the Kuban bridgeheads on the Crimean peninsula in February
1943. The shield was instituted on September 21, 1943, for those member
of the Wehrmacht who served honorably for sixty-days in the Kuban area,
or those who had taken part in at least one major engagement, (time
stipulations were waived if the precipitant was wounded). The bronze
finish on this example exhibits moderate to near heavy signs of age, as
well as moderate surface tarnish, wear and light surface scratches
associated with light to moderate use and storage. The German Army
gray/green wool backing, exhibits moderate to near heavy signs of age;
moderate wear, and has some small bits of material missing along parts
of the edge of the material; the wool surface knap is worn and
moderately, evenly, overall soiled from use. The wool, and magnetic back
plate are attached by the use of four, fold-over, metal prongs on the
edges of the front shield. The backside is covered with a gray/green
ribbed paper, which exhibits heavy signs of age and wear; parts of the
metal back plate have worn through the paper and there are some pieces
of paper missing and it appears that the shield was lightly hand
stitched to a uniform. The overall condition would rate about Vg- and
has a pleasingly aged and, “salty,” well used appearance. Vg-. $220.00

| General Assault
Badge, Early Manufacture With Very High Quality Detail |
 |
1GM-13LCN. The badge was instituted on June 1,
1940 to recognize Engineer, Artillery, Anti-Aircraft, Anti-Tank and other
personnel who supported an attack but were not eligible for the Infantry
or Armored Assault badges. Personnel must have participated in three
Infantry or Armor assaults on three different days. 1-11/16-inch wide x
2-1/8-inch high, very nicely detailed, die struck, oval, alloy metal badge
that exhibits moderate signs of age, light wear on some of the surface
highlights, as well as, some light to moderate surface deterioration on
some parts of the grenade and bayonet. The front retains approximately
40%, or more, of its original silver finish, with the remaining, 60%
showing a gray base metal finish. The detail on this example is highly
defined; the oak leaves are textured and deeply impressed; the acorns are
nicely formed, they have very nice checkered detail to the crowns and the
stems are long and very pronounced. The stippling around the oak leaves is
carried throughout the background of the wreath; the border edge around
the wreath is precise and nicely defined. There is very nice detail to the
feather fletching on the eagle’s chest and wings; the skin on the
eagle’s legs and talons is nicely detailed, as well. The moderately
sculptured backside exhibits an overall aged gray finish with light
remnants of the original silver finish. The border edge on the backside is
slightly raised and precisely defined giving the back of the medal a
quality-finished appearance. This badge has a, set-in and soldered, ball
hinge and a, set-in and soldered, pin catch, unfortunately the long
thin attaching pin and pin catch are missing from this medal. A very
nice representative example of a, high quality, Infantry Assault badge,
manufactured with much attention to detail.
