General Assault Badge, Mid-War Quality
GenAssaultSilv2var.JPG (62047 bytes) 2GM-19LCN. The badge was instituted on June 1, 1940 to recognize Engineer, Artillery, Anti-Aircraft, Anti-Tank and other personnel who supported an attack but were not eligible for the Infantry or Armored Assault badges. Personnel must have participated in three Infantry or Armor assaults on three different days. Approximately 1-5/8-inch wide x 2-1/8-inch high, die struck, oval, alloy metal badge that exhibits moderate signs of age, light to moderate wear on some of the surface highlights. The front retains approximately 45%, or more, of its original silver finish, with the remaining, 55% showing a gray base metal finish. Most mid-war manufactured badges are lacking in the detail usually found in earlier badges; this badge is consistent with that type of manufacturing. The lightly sculptured backside exhibits an overall aged gray finish with light remnants of the original silver finish. This badge has a, set-in and crimped, hinge and a, set-in and crimped, pin catch, unfortunately the long thin attaching pin is missing from this medal. A good representative example of a mid-war quality Infantry Assault badge. Unmarked. About Vg. $85.00

Police Visor Hat Insignia. Maker Marked JFS
PoliceEagleJFS.JPG (61979 bytes) 2GM-22ARF. Standard Nazi period police visor hat insignia. Approx. 2-3/4-inch high x 2-1/8-inch wide, stamped silver aluminum insignia depicting a spread wing eagle and swastika, within an oval oak leaf wreath. This insignia is original factory constructed with the top portion of the wreath tilted slightly to the front to accommodate the shape of the police visor hat. Two hardened metal attaching pins are set into the, hollow, semi-sculptured backside. The letters “JFS,” (Josef Feix & Sohne, Gablonz a.d. Niesse), are embossed within a small embossed square on the backside; “JFS,” made many different quality badges and awards throughout WW2; from my experience it’s somewhat unusual to find the “JFS” maker mark on a Police cap eagle. I acquired a quantity of these highly detailed, finely designed Police cap badges from a veterans accumulation, stored in an attic since WW2; the badges may have light storage soil on the front, and or, on the backside, as well as light surface rust on the metal attaching pins; all of which, could be cleaned if you have a notion to do so. I will send the best ones out first. Beautiful detail. Near excellent.  $38.00 ON HOLD
Police Visor Hat Insignia. Maker Marked R.S.S

Approx. 2-3/4-inch high x 2-1/8-inch wide, stamped silver aluminum insignia depicting a spread wing eagle and swastika, within an oval oak leaf wreath. This insignia is original factory constructed with the top portion of the wreath tilted deeply to the front to accommodate the shape of the police visor hat. Two hardened brass attaching pins are set into the, hollow, semi-sculptured backside. The letters “R.S.S.,” (Richard Sieper & Söhne, Lüdenscheid), are embossed within a small embossed circle on the backside; “R.S.S.,” made many different quality badges and awards throughout WW2.  I acquired a quantity of these nicely detailed Police cap badges from a veterans accumulation, stored in an attic since WW2; the badges may have light storage soil on the front, and or, on the backside, as well as light surface deterioration on the brass attaching pins; all of which, could be cleaned if you have a notion to do so. I will send the best ones out first. The design is distinctly different as compared to the “JFS” badge above. Nice detail. Near excellent. $32.00 ON HOLD
Black Wound Badge For German Volunteers In The Spanish War Of Freedom 1936-1939
woundspanish.JPG (61656 bytes) 2GM-23. Highly detailed, stamped brass badge, issued for one or two wounds. The badge depicts a WW1 style German helmet bearing a large, very high relief swastika in the center of the helmet; the helmet is superimposed over crossed swords on a stippled background with an oak leaf wreath edge. Hollow back construction, brass needle pin with a bras wire pin catch device. Light signs of age and wear, the black paint, on the front, is worn, exposing a dull brass finish, approximately 60% of its original paint remains. The backside retains approximately 95% of its original black paint and has a dusty soil in the crevasses. Note: This is actually a very scarce medal and was only awarded 182 times during the 1936 to 1939 period, however, there were many more of these badges produced than were actually needed; this design continued to be issued by the Germans until existing supplies were exhausted. After 1939, supplies of this award were used up quite quickly. Unmarked, as most of them are. A unique  badge that's difficult to acquire. Vg. $140.00 SOLD

Luftwaffe Marksmanship Lanyard Grade 5, Matte-Gray Aluminum Luftwaffe Eagle & Wreath With No Acorns
LuftLan5grade.JPG (67918 bytes)

2GM-26. This style Luftwaffe Marksman award was instituted in 1936 to replace the old style Reichswehr Marksmanship sleeve stripes. This specimen is approximately 17-inches overall length and constructed from heavy blue/gray silk cords braded to form a rope like design; the cords are interwoven with silver aluminum threads forming an overall chevron pattern. The matte-gray aluminum insignia bears a high relief design of a Luftwaffe eagle with a swastika in its talons, within an oak leaf wreath. There are three, ball shaped, sliders constructed from woven silver thread. A loop at the top the lanyard attaches to a button under the right shoulder board, another loop at the bottom of the lanyard, attaches to the second button on the front of the Luftwaffe tunic. This specific lanyard is the first award, in the second grouping of three groups of Marksman awards, and did not come with any acorns or artillery shell pendants. The backside of the eagle and wreath area has blue/gray wool backing; the back of the braded rope was manufactured with out a lining. The Luftwaffe eagle and wreath are very lightly aged and the matte-gray aluminum finish is lightly worn on the highlights of the design. The braded rope is in Vg+ condition, except for some very minor dusty soil; there is one fairly large frayed spot on one of the cords near the bottom of the braded portion of the lanyard; the loops and the silver sliders are all intact. The backside is just about excellent. A very nice example. We have taken the frayed spot into consideration when pricing this item. Vg+. $110.00 SOLD

The front depicts a hand embroidered black swastika with silver wire trim, on a white circle. The gold metal laurel wreath is trimmed on the inside with red twisted thread; the outside is trimmed with red twisted thread and silver twisted wire. The gray starburst design with silver wire tips is bordered with gray green wool. The paper backing missing on the backside, (a natural occurrence when the glue dries out), exposing a multitude of silver wire and thread showing the amount of handwork that went into the construction of this patch. Very light signs of age to the cloth parts; approximately half of the gold metal wreath is tarnished from age and storage and has a light greenish haze in some spots; no soil. A nice example. SCARCE. $575.00 SOLD

DJ Runic Proficiency Badge Numbered 57001
djsigruneproficiency.JPG (47003 bytes)

2GM-28AZE. Approximately 1-1/4-inch wide x 1-7/8-inch high, stamped metal badge, depicting a swastika, within a circle, superimposed on a single Rune; the circle is embossed with runic-like German letters, which translates, “For Achievement in the DJ.” The badge appears to have had a silver finish at one time, which is moderate to heavily aged and tarnished to a blue/gray color. The backside has a safety pin type attaching pin and pin catch; (the catch part of the pin has been flattened, it’s still intact and does not affect the display ability of the insignia; I do not  suggest trying to  straighten it out). The backside is numbered, “57001,” and is also marked, “RZM, M1/15. A very sound example. About Vg. $135.00 SOLD
