Party affiliation. There is some enameling missing inside some of the
letters around the edge, which appears to be a manufacturing flaw, rather
than a chip, otherwise the enamel is in Vg. condition and shows light
signs of age from handling and actual use. Some of the silver trim has
tarnished to gray/gunmetal tarnish. The backside has an overall gold/gray
tarnish. One of the classic WW2 German pins. Nice.

| Russian Front
Medal |
 |
5GM-60. Issued
for service in the Winter Campaign in Russia 1941-1942. Referred to as the
Ostmedaille, (East Medal), unofficially called the, “Frozen Flesh
Medal,” by the German soldiers who suffered the weather in the Russian
Winter Campaign. The front of medal depicts an eagle standing on a
swastika. The reverse is embossed “Winterschlacht Im Osten 1941-1942,”
(Winter battle in the east 1941-1942), a crossed sword and laurel leaf
adorns the bottom backside. The top of medal has a German helmet sitting
on a German potato masher grenade. The front and backside of the medal has
a dark gray overall finish; any silver has long since disappeared, which
is a natural aging characteristic of this particular medal over long
periods of storage; it appears that somebody attempted clean the medal, at
some point, then stopped, (nothing very serious). The medal has a
2-1/2-inch length of ribbon that exhibits light age and light soil from
handling. example. A very good representative example. About

only minor remnants of the original silver finish remains in the recess
and crevices of the design and the eagle has taken on an overall light
gray, base metal patina. The hollow backside has two, set-in and crimped,
hardened, flat brass, attaching pins, (one pin on the wing is
missing). The backside is embossed, “RZM, M4/53.” A

Coast Artillery War Badge |
 |
5GM-63.

awarded to personnel of a crew for individual meritorious deeds or in
recognition of superior leadership. The badge was also awarded
posthumously to personnel who were killed or died as a result of duty a
connected Coast Artillery action. A
heavy, stamped brass badge depicting a German Coast Artillery emplacement,
surrounded by an oak leaf wreath, surmounted by an eagle and swastika; the
eagle exhibits some minor dings from handling and actual use, (nothing
seriously detracting). Approximately 98% of the original gold finish
remains, which is lightly worn on the highlights; the gold finish is light
to moderately tarnished creating a pleasing dark gold patina. The silver
finish on the gun emplacement and water has tarnished to a dark gray
patina and the silver finish on the highlights of the gun are worn to a
dull brass base metal. The backside exhibits much of its original silver

 |
5GM-66. Handmade, silver-plated
brass ring, hand inscribed on front, "Oran Africa 1943."
Approximately 50%, or more, of its original silver-plating still remains.
Looks much better than in the image. Moderate age and wear; almost all of

remembrance of his North Africa experience. About size 8 or 9. Vg. $49.00 SOLD

| German National
Eagle, 2nd Pattern |
 |
5GM-71. The
2nd pattern National Eagle, of course, replaced the short
stubby wing 1st pattern National Eagle and was in use until the
final pattern National Eagle was adopted, however, the 2nd
pattern can still be seen on various NS-headgear throughout the war. This
specimen is a nicely detailed, stamped aluminum, example, 2-1/2-inch wide
x 1-1/4-inch high; the front exhibits a bright aluminum finish with a
little age, as well as light signs of wear. The backside is embossed,
“RZM M1/17,” unfortunately all there of the attaching pins, on the
backside, have broken off. An excellent representative example of a
2nd pattern National Eagle and will display quite nicely with
out the attaching pins.
I think you’ll like this one. Just about excellent. $24.00
