Original WW2 German Army Helmet Decal |
 |
1GH-001 / 1GP-001. The decal is on an
approximately 1-1/2-inch wide x 1-7/8-inch high silver backed paper. The
front of the decal paper depicts a light blue ink depiction of a German
Army helmet eagle and swastika and is maker marked, “ED. Strache,
Warnsdorf,” and there is a maker logo on each end of the lettering. The
bottom right corner of the paper is torn and missing, (this does not
affect the decal); the bottom right quarter and the top right corner has a
moisture stain. The silver, on the backside, exhibits moderate age and
light creased and light cracks in the silver material; the silver is 99%
intact. The paper on the backside shows less age than on the front. This
is not a simple water transfer decal; there is a very specific and
technically detailed process for adhering original German decals to
helmets; I don’t suggest trying to apply this decal to a helmet because
of its age and condition. A very scarce item in deed. About Vg. $65.00

Orden, (Orders), Cigarette Card Book, Published by
Waldorf Astoria Cigarette Company, Munich, Germany, Circa 1920’s |
 |
1GP-1.
11-inch wide x 13-1/2-inch high and about ¾-ich thick, very large
format; illustrated stiff, yellow, paper covers; 56 pages containing 287
1-3/4-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high, outstandingly beautiful, photographic
quality, full color, illustrations depicting orders and medals of the
early German States and Imperial Germany orders and medals covering the
period up to about 1922, with descriptive and historical text, in the
German language, on facing pages. Standard cigarette card book where the
owner redeems cigarette coupons for the pictures and then pastes the
pictures into the book. The book is complete with all pictures are
present. The front cover exhibits a color illustration of the famous Blue
Max award; the back cover bears the Waldorf-Astoria manufacturers
trademark design. The front and back covers exhibit light age and wear
with some moderate spots of soil from handling and storage, (nothing
serious); the corners and edges exhibit light wear from handling; the
bottom right front and back corner has been heavily bumped. The heavy,
wartime pulp pages are in near excellent condition, exhibiting light age,
as well as very minor and insignificant warping from storage; minor
yellowing, no damage. The beautifully colored pictures, which can only be
described as miniature works of art, range in condition from Vg+ to
excellent, some show a bit of age in the form of light crazing to the
pictures colored surface and minor storage age, nothing serious or
damaging. The pictures of the orders and medals are not only beautiful and
interesting to look at but they also serve as a very handy reference of
early German orders and medals, which are otherwise would require several
different research volumes, most of which do not come in full color. An
important archival treasure, as well as an important publication for the
novice and advanced order and medal collector. The images do not
do the pictures of the medals justice; they are dramatically more
beautiful in person than in the image. Overall Near Vg+. $120.00

1932 - German 1932 Olympic Cigarette Card Album |
 |
1GP-2. Olympia
1932. German cigarette card album depicting the events at the tenth
Olympic games located in Los Angeles, California, 1932. Copyright 1932 by
H.F. & PH. F., Reemtsma, Hamburg-Bahrenfeld and printed in Germany.
Approximately 9-1/4-inches wide x 12-inches high format, hard blue covers,
gold impressed Olympic rings and black lettering. 142 pages of text, in
German, hundreds of black & white, as well as, colored pictures and
illustrations presented in a typical German cigarette album of the period.
The book is designed to have the owner purchase sets of cards, relative to
the 1932 Olympic activities, as they became available, then paste the
cards into the appropriate section of the book; each card has a
description of the event on the backside; the cards are high quality and
closely approximate an actual photograph. The covers are moderately, to
heavily aged, in some spots, from storage; they are scuffed and have, what
appears to be, spots of paint on the front cover. I have gone through the
book several times and all of the pictures seem to be intact. The interior
pages exhibit light to moderate age from handling, some are slightly
wrinkled and darkened from picking up ambient moisture during storage,
nothing extremely damaging or seriously detracting. Unfortunately, pages
135 through 138 have been torn out, (??). Priced accordingly. Good +. $20.00 SOLD |

“Paul Henne.” There are many entries on the first several pages that

of the war in Europe). The entries indicate that this person worked
for several dentists and in dental laboratories. The front cover
exhibits moderate signs of age and a little wear; there are some light, to
near heavy, soil spotting, as well, (nothing overly detracting). The
backside shows age and wear but is in better condition than the front. The
interior pages exhibit light to moderate age and wear from handling and
use and the interior staples have come loose from the covers. Overall the

| Deutsches Reich
Kennkarte, (German Reich Identity Card), For A Polish Man, Early Style,
Waterproof Linen |
 |
Note: During the
German occupation of Poland, the German General Government required that
all Polish persons must have an identity card. There were four different
types of Kennkartes; the purpose of the cards was to identify Reichsdeutschen,
(Germans who were born in Germany); Volksdeutschen, (persons
who could prove third generation German ancestry and declare themselves to
be German); Nichtdeutschen, (non-Germans who could prove the
absence of Jewish ancestry); and Juden, (those of Jewish or part
Jewish ancestry). The identity documents were supported by the owners’
photograph, fingerprints, as well as birth certificates, work
certificates, as well as other Polish Civil and Police documents. Each of
the four different documents provided certain privileges or
non-privileges, such as where one could live, work, shop and the amount of
food coupons one could obtain. Those persons requiring the Juden Kennkarte
were also required to wear a yellow Star of David on their clothing.
Non-compliance of the Kennkarte ruling could produce very severe
penalties, which included imprisonment, forced labor, concentration camp
confinement and, in some cases, summery execution. The Kennkarte was a
very important document to have on your person at all times.
1GP-5. Approximately
3-7/8-inch wide x 5-7/8-inch high, this Kennkarte is for a Polish man by the name of
“Stanislaw Kzrykawski;” The card number is A00764; it is an
early style identity card, which is constructed of waterproof linen
material; the front exterior bears, black printed, German Gothic style lettering; a German
eagle and swastika, as well as a diagonal red stripe indicating a
non-German person with no Jewish ancestry, (Nichtdeutsche). The
first inside page bears the persons name, birth date, place of birth,
occupation, physical characteristics and other remarks. The second interior page
has the persons photograph, which is attached by one, crimped, eyelet type of
attachment; two fingerprints, his name, as well as local German officials
and or German Police ink stamps and official signatures. The back page has
many different ink notations and one official German ink stamp. The
entries range from 1943 to 1945. It is interesting to note that the
document indicates that it is good until, 7 September 1948.
The card is heavily aged and worn from years of use The entries are
clear and more information can be gained if you can read the language and
decipher the entries. Overall about Good. $49.00

1GP-6. 5-7/8-inch
wide x 8-1/4-inch high book with illustrated chipboard cover, by Johannes
von Kunowski, published in 194 by K. Thienemanns in Stuttgart. 84 pulp
pages in German text, as well as 15 pages of photographs in the back of
the book. Part of a series of books, of the same design, extolling the
German war experience, in this case, in the eastern and western fronts
during the early years, (1940). The covers exhibit moderate age, (one
heavy spot), as well as light to moderate soil from handling and shelf
wear; the corners are bumped and worn; the cloth binding is intact showing
light age wear and soil. The interior pages are in Vg++ condition; they
have yellowed from age and have minor foxing marks; the front flyleaf and
the photo section have picked up some moisture during the books storage;
the pages affected are lightly wrinkled, (not actually damaged), and have
the appearance of once being moist. These books were cheaply produced and
did not fare well over the years; this example is better than most we have
found, even with the moisture situation, which is actually not too bad. The
book has a very nice cover illustration and will display nicely.
Overall, the book would rate in the upper grade of Vg-. Priced accordingly

| “Die Reichswehr” Cigarette
Card Album |
 |
1GP-12. This
“Die Reichswehr Cigarette Card album” is one of a series of similar
informative and patriotic albums produced in Germany, post-WW1 to the end
of WW2. When the album was originally purchased it was devoid of any
pictures; the pictures were usually obtained by redeeming coupons found on
packs of German cigarettes. Each picture was numbered and was pasted in
the album where its corresponding number appeared. After many packs of
cigarettes were purchased and all of the pictures were pasted in the book,
the owner had a colorful and informative overview showing the latest
German military hardware and depicting German soldiers in inspiring
situations. This large size example is approximately 11-1/2-inch wide x
12-1/4-inch high with, thick, silver colored, cardboard covers. The front
cover depicts a heavily embossed, gold colored, Reichswehr style eagle on
a black shield; the words, “Die Reichswehr” is embossed, horizontally
across the eagle’s chest. The album was printed in 1933 and contains
280, 2-1/2-inch wide x 2-1/16-inch high, full color, illustrations, which
covers many aspects of German Army, Navy, Aviation training, as well as,
daily military activities in the Reichswehr period. Each illustration has
a corresponding descriptive text next to it, as well as, a page or two of
introductory text preceding each branch of service represented in the
album, (each illustration has a descriptive text on the backside, as
well). All pictures are present and intact. The front cover is moderately
aged, lightly soiled and heavily dog-eared; there are moderate to heavily
creases and there is a 2-inch tear, on the upper left edge, which has been
repaired with cellophane tape, on the inside; the silver paper finish is
worn from handling and use. The gold colored finish on the eagle design is lightly worn, as is
the black shield background; the design would rate Vg+ or better. The
binding is tight and intact. The outside edges of the binding are worn
through the silver finish to the base paper backing. The back cover is
less worn than the front. There is a large piece of silver finish paper
missing on the, upper right hand, front corner, it appears that a price
sticker, or something similar, was removed from the cover at some time; a
piece of the cover on the bottom right corner is missing. The, thick, pulp paper pages are lightly yellowed from age; they are
lightly dog-eared, except for the first few pages, which are heavily
bumped on the bottom corner. Despite the light to moderate detractions,
the book still makes a strong presentation and the illustrations are
fantastic. The outside would rate Vg-; the interior is about excellent. $95.00

very interesting; it has a distinctive divisional design on the drivers

stuff going on in this photo. Backside is hand written in German
