Note: For some reason, some of the tinnies, the silver colored ones in particular, don't photograph well; they tend to look grained, pitted and heavily tarnished in the images. Unless those features are part of the description, please be assured, the tinnies offered are in very nice collectible condition.

The Brocken, or Blocksberg, is the highest peak, (1142 meters), in the Harz Mountains in Germany and is located between the Weser and Elbe Rivers. After WW2 the Brocken area was sealed off and established as a security zone. At the start of construction of the Berlin Wall on  August 13, 1961 the peak was named a military high security zone and turned into a fortress. Due to its high altitude the peak was used to spy on communication signals from the surrounding area. Border troops were quartered at the Brocken railway station, and the Soviet Army used a large portion of the surrounding territory. The Stasi, (East German secret police), used the peak for electronic surveillance until 1985; today the Brocken is part of a German National Park. This tinnie is "not" from the Cold War period;  it was brought back from WW2 by a local veteran and was part of his estate collection.  An interesting tinnie with a broad history. Vg. $12.00 SOLD
