| German Military Issue, Tan
& Water Camouflage Pattern, Federal Border Guard, (BGS, the Bundesgrenschutz),
Parka |
|

|
1PWOC-8. This camouflage pattern is reminiscent of
the WW2 German, “tan & water,” pattern and was typically worn by
Germanys Federal Border Guards, (BGS, the Bundesgrenschutz),
in the late 1950’s; this has proven to be a popular pattern with the
Germans and is still in use today. These tan & water parkas they do
not turn up on the surplus market very often, when they do they are in
very bad condition, very expensive and in very small sizes. The German
government usually cut the jackets up the backside and tore off the sleeve
pocket flap, supposedly to prevent persons from pretending to be a German
Border Guard. A, parka length, medium weight jacket used by Germanys
Federal Border Guards, (BGS, the Bundesgrenschutz).
The parka is constructed of, very sturdy, tightly woven, smooth tan cotton
base material, which is printed in an olive green and brick red pattern
with thin olive colored lines, simulating rain. The parka has an
open collar with lapels that can be closed at the neck; six, hidden
buttons down the front; two large expandable chest pockets with double,
hidden button, flap closure; two very large lower pockets with double,
hidden button, flap closure. The lower pockets are extremely large; they
are internally expandable and have interior separations for several extra
ammunition magazines. There are three button adjustments at each cuff and
the left sleeve has a long narrow flap, with two metal securing snaps that
cover separations for pencils and pens. The tan cotton interior has one
large breast pocket with one button closure, an adjustable waist strap at
the back of the parka and a weight suspension system that is nearly
identical to WW2 combat tunics. The outside backside of the parka has two,
large, aluminum, “D,” rings for attaching a bread bag and canteen; the
sleeves have extra material sewn on the elbows for extra wear. The parka
is a very large size and will fit up to about a 42-inch to a 44-inch chest
and will comfortably fit about a 36-inch, possibly 38-inch waist, if you
have a big gut, it won’t work. The parka has a large white cloth label
sewn on the inside neck area, which reads, “Val. Mehler AG, Fulda,
Grosse: 50, Bund, Auftrags Nr. 205/71.” As mentioned above, the German
government cut this jacket up the backside, twice; the sleeve pocket flap
has not been tampered with; the tears on the backside have been carefully
repaired and somewhat blend in with the outside camo pattern; the repair
can be seen on the inside back of the jacket. Other than the repair, the
parka is sound and completely serviceable; it’s in Excellent+ unused
condition. Reasonably priced at $59.00 SOLD |
