Regimental
Crests; Distinctive Insignia and Di's refer to colorful enameled insignia,
which extol the historical military honors and achievements of a specific
unit. Many units have had a long and colorful history, for some, heir
histories and honors may reach as far back as the U.S. Revolution. These
honors and achievements are subtlety displayed on their uniforms,
through heraldic symbolism, in the form of these enameled insignia. Each
unit has its own particular colors, symbols and shape, which identifies
it distinctly from other units; The Regimental Crests offered in this
section are authorized, regulation military crests and have been
manufactured post WW2, The uniqueness and variety of these crests make fertile
ground for the military collector.
NOTE: In some cases, the bright finish
on the DI's shows up very dark when they are scanned; they are actually
not the dark color as they appear in the image. |

2-DIPW-21. Design approved February 6, 1930. The
shield is blue with a diagonal green band representing the Panama Canal, the
district to which the organization was assigned, while the dragon is taken
from the coat of arms of the 1st Gas Regiment. Campaigns: WWI - Lys, Aisne,

mythical Greek she-monster who proposed a riddle, is representative of the
intelligence mission. Black refers to the coat of arms of the Old Rhineland
District of Pfalz in Germany where the unit was activated in 1961. The
numerical designation and mission are indicated by the two roundels or
lenses directing their gaze downward. Campaigns: Armed Forces Expeditions -

lion, from the coat of arms of Normandy, denotes the assault landing of
June, 1944, in which the unit participated as the 4th Quartermaster
Battalion (Mobile). The fleurs-de-lis represent France, where the unit
participated in three campaigns during WW2. Campaigns: WW2 - Normandy,

and blue are the colors of the quartermaster corps representing former
service of the unit. The acorn commemorates the organization's citation by
the Belgian Army for effective resistance during the first phase of the
Ardennes Offensive and campaign honors in Europe during WW2. The interlaced
annulets depict chain mail and are in yellow, the color for armor, to
represent the Battalion's association with the Third Armored Division.

1958. The white and blue field represent the sate colors of Bavaria. The
small figure is a "Munisch Kindl," a child dressed as a monk. The city
symbol of Munich along with the state colors of Bavaria represent the birth
place of the Academy. The Seventh US Army insignia denotes the parent

The motif of the distinctive insignia are symbolic of service in three wars.
The gold fleur-de-lis represents service in WWI. The white seven-pointed
star surrounded by a sea of dark blue represents service in the Pacific
Theater in WW2. The harsh black line dividing the shield denotes the
demilitarized zone. The ten stars and taeguk represent campaigns
participated in during the Korean War. Campaigns: WW1 - Ile de France 1918,

numerical designation. The blue fleur-de-lis refers to service in WW1. The
lion (from the coat of arms of Normandy), spearhead, and star symbolize the
assault landing at Utah Beach, which spearheaded the American landing on the
Normandy beaches. The four other stars represent campaigns in WW2.
