U.S. Paratrooper Qualification Wing, Marked, J.R. Gaunt, London. A
Unique Variation. No Precious Metal |

2UMI-17. Approximately 1-1/2-inch
wide x 7/8-inch high, stamped metal wing depicting a deployed parachute
canopy within a feathered wing design; a high quality highly detailed
strike, made by the famous British medal & insignia company, J.R.
Gaunt, London, England, made for the U.S. Army during WW2. The British
made Paratrooper wing is easily identified by its deeply feathered
design, as well as the unique British attaching pin and pin catch. The
front exhibits very light signs of age and wear; on some of the
highlights of its original silver oxide finish. The reverse exhibits a
dark gray finish and has a “uniquely British,” horizontal, brass
attaching pin and an open, flat metal, pin catch; the area behind the
parachute is marked, “J.R. Gaunt, London,” in raised letters. No
precious metals. A scarce, well-known, variation that is not often

2UMI-18. Approximately 1-1/2-inch
long x ¾-inch high depicting a head on view of a glider within a
feathered wing design. The front exhibits light signs of age and wear;
on some of the highlights of the original dark silver oxide finish. This
example has a, dark, smooth finish behind the cockpit and between the
wings and struts; there is nice overall fletching enhancements on the
wings. The reverse is flat and has a dark, “bluish,” tarnished; the
backside is marked, “sterling,” with raised letters and has a
horizontal, attaching pin with a, roller lock, pin catch. The pin catch
on this example opens from the top instead of opening from the side as

2UMI-18a. Approximately
1-1/2-inch long x ¾-inch high depicting a head on view of a glider
within a feathered wing design. The front exhibits light signs of age
and wear; on some of the highlights of the original silver oxide finish.
This example has a, variation, dark, “stippled,”
finish behind the cockpit and between the wings and struts; there are
some light fletching enhancements on the wings. The reverse is flat and
has a dark tarnished finish with some insignificant age blemishes; there
is a small sculptured square behind the area of the cockpit; the
backside is marked, “sterling,” with raised letters and has a
horizontal, attaching pin with a, roller lock, pin catch. Near

wide x ½-inch high, “mini,” Paratrooper wing, depicting a deployed
parachute canopy within a feathered wing design; very nice quality and
finely detail. The front exhibits light, to near moderate, signs of wear
on some of the highlights and it has a lightly tarnished finish. The
flat backside has a light gray tarnished finish and is marked,
sterling,” vertically, behind the parachute. The backside has a
horizontal attaching pin with a, roller lock, pin catch. A very

U.S. Navy Enlisted Man’s Dog Tag |

2UMI-20. 1-1/2-inch
wide x 1-1/4-inch high, oval metal, WW2 Navy type, dog tag. The tag is
stamped, “John Thomas Tierney, 666-44-68, T-2/12/43, USNR, O,” and
has a hole on each end of the tag.
The backside is blank but has light impressions of the lettering
on the front. Normally there would be two tags, unfortunately, only one
tag survived. This specimen has a matte silver finish and exhibits very
light signs of age and wear. Excellent. $12.00 |

Petty Officer, (CPO), Cap Badge, (Could Be Pre-WW2) |

2UMI-21. Approximately 1-1/8-inch wide
x 1-3/4-inch high U.S. Navy CPO cap insignia depicting silver metal USN
letters separately applied to the front of a gilt brass anchor with a
separately applied, fouled, anchor chain. The letters and chain are all
hand soldered to the anchor and the letters, which are set at a,
“jaunty,” angle, almost appear to be handmade. The front of the
insignia exhibits moderate signs of age and wear; the silver plate and
gilt finish is moderately worn, as well. The backside has a vertical
attaching pin with a flat, open, metal pin catch. A very
“salty” looking insignia. No precious metal. About Vg. $24.00

| Large Marine Corps Enlisted Eagle
Globe & Anchor – Garrison Cap Insignia – Made In London, England

2UMI-22. Approximately 1-5/8-inch wide x
1-5/8-inch high, blackened brass, USMC eagle, globe and anchor insignia
with a short shank that does not touch the eagle’s wing. A slightly, “clunky,”
looking example that has a fouled rope, which is made integral to the
design. Highly embossed continents as well as, lines of latitude, (no
longitude). The backside is hollow and sculptured; it has a metal screw
post brazed onto the center of the globe, as well as, a thin 7/8-inch
diameter brass washer and a circular nut with fluted ridges on the edge.
The backside is marked, “J. R. Gaunt, London, Made In England.”
Light signs of age and wear, the blackened finish is worn on the
continents; some of the original blackened finish is worn and chipped
from the globe. A very scarce “Gaunt, London” marked example.

Combat Infantry Badge depicting a silver flintlock rifle on a blue
painted background; the design is superimposed on a silver oak leaf
wreath with a silver oxide finish A coveted badge, awarded to persons
with the rank of Colonel, and below, who are assigned to Infantry units
and have satisfactorily performed duty when engaged in active ground
combat. The badge covers specific conflicts from the period of 6 Dec
1941 to the present time. The blue enamel is approximately 98% intact
and exhibits light age, light wear, as well as a few, minor, white
surface blemishes on the blue field; the silver rifle and silver border
edge exhibits light signs of tarnish. The reverse has an overall
blackened finish, is marked, “sterling,” in raised letters, and has
two attaching pins with, two, WW2 type, flat-face, brass clutch

original bright silver finish, which has light and insignificant signs
of wear and tarnish. The reverse has an overall blackened finish and is

2UMI-24. The
same design as worn on the Navy officer dress visor hat but smaller.
Approximately 1-1/8-inch wide x 1-1/4-inch high insignia depicting a
silver eagle, standing on a shield, separately applied onto gold plated
crossed and fouled anchors. The eagle and shield exhibits moderate
overall tarnish and is lightly worn on the highlights; the anchors are
lightly worn and lightly tarnished on some parts. The backside of the
eagle is deeply sculptured; the backside of the anchor area is flat and
is very lightly stamped, “GEMSCO, Sterling-1/20-10kt GF,” (1-20th
10-karat gold filled over sterling silver). The back has a horizontal

1-1/2-inch wide x 1-inch high oval badge, depicting two serpents
entwined around a staff with winged cross on top; the design is
superimposed upon an opened military stretcher; the design is bordered
by an oak leaf and acorn wreath. The very nicely detailed front exhibits
light to near moderate wear to the highlights and has light gray tarnish
on the stretcher; the wreath has a dark silver oxide finish. This
example has a factory detailed “cut-out” between the upper and lower
entwined area of the snakes; a very nice touch. The flat
backside has a light gray tarnished finish and is marked,
“sterling,” in raised letters: there is a horizontal attaching pin,
which is lightly bent from use, and a, roller lock, pin catch. Very

Marine Corps Expert Rifleman Qualification Badge With
Crossed Krag Rifles, A Unique Variation |

2UMI-26. A
very interesting silver colored variation depicting, what appear to be,
a slightly stylized version of crossed, “Krag,” rifles superimposed
on a, highly detailed, laurel wreath. The front has very insignificant
signs of wear and has aged to a matte silver finish. The badge is
suspended from a horizontal bar marked, “Expert Rifleman.” The
backside exhibits an overall, “starburst” design and has a
horizontal attaching pin, with a flat, open, metal pin catch on the
backside of the suspension bar. A very unique variation. No precious

2UMI-27. Approximately 1-1/8-inch wide,
gold plated, Navy/Marine Pilot wing depicting a winged shield,
superimposed on a fouled anchor. The front of the wing exhibits light
age and wear and the gold plating has darkened to a pleasing aged
patina. The flat backside has a dark gold finish with spots of tarnish,
it is stamped with the “Hilborn/Hamburger,” logo design and is
inscribed, “Ster. + 1/20 10K; it has a horizontal attaching pin with
a, heavy-duty, roller lock pin catch. Nice. Vg+. $59.00
