11th Airborne Division - The Angels - No Tab

1UP-1. 2-1/2-inch wide x 3-inch high, fully embroidered blue patch depicting a winged number “11” on a red circle. Unfortunately we do not have the proper WW2 Airborne tab for this patch. The 11th Airborne was activated in 1943, arrived in New Guinea in May 1944. The 11th ABN trained for the invasion of the Philippines; their mission was to disrupt Japanese supply lines and cut Japanese escape routes. The 11th fought and defeated Japanese Paratroopers dropped on the San Pablo airstrip; the 11th made amphibious and airborne landings in their drive toward Manila and was credited as being the first U.S. unit to land on the Japanese mainland. 204 days of combat in three campaigns. Unused. Excellent++. $24.00

11th Airborne Division with Separate Airborne Tab

This example exhibits moderate signs of age, light wear, no actual soil, (the backside has some minor and insignificant brown marks, but nothing serious). It appears that the patch has been used but there are no thread remnants or stitch marks that I can see. Nice. SCARCE. Used. Vg. $39.00

11th Airborne Patch with Attached Tab and Tan Fabric between Tab and Patch
`1UP-1c. 2-1/4-inch wide x 3-3/4-inch high, fully embroidered blue patch depicting an embroidered, winged number “11” on a red circle. The Airborne tab was made integral to the patch when it was manufactured and the space between the patch and the tab is an extension of the same tan colored fabric that the patch and tab is embroidered on. This example exhibits moderate signs of age, light wear, no actual soil; the patch shows signs of laundering; it is wrinkled and has a vertical crease, in the center of the patch, from being ironed when on a uniform. This example has been removed from a uniform; minor remnants of original sewing thread still remain. The area behind the “Airborne” tab has light signs of light glue, (nothing serious). 1UP-1d. 2-1/4-inch wide x 3-5/8-inch high, fully embroidered blue patch depicting an embroidered, winged number “11” on a red circle. The Airborne tab was made integral to the patch when it was manufactured and the space between the patch and the tab is an extension of the same tan colored fabric that the patch and tab is embroidered on. This example exhibits moderate signs of age, light wear, no actual soil; the patch shows signs of laundering. This example has been removed from a uniform; remnants of original sewing thread still remain. The patch is slightly out of shape from use, (not seriously detracting), priced accordingly. This example exhibits moderate, to near heavy, signs of age, moderate wear, no actual soil; the patch shows signs of laundering. 11th Airborne Patch with Attached Tab and Tan Fabric between Tab and Patch

1UP-1f. 2-1/8-inch wide x 3-5/8-inch high, (slightly shrunk from laundering), fully embroidered blue patch depicting an embroidered, winged number “11” on a red circle. The Airborne tab was made integral to the patch when it was manufactured and the space between the patch and the tab is an extension of the same tan colored fabric that the patch and tab is embroidered on. This example exhibits heavy, signs of age, and wear, no actual soil; the patch shows signs of laundering and the blue color is moderately faded. This example has been removed from a uniform; remnants of original sewing thread still remain. A nice, “very salty,” example. SCARCE. About Vg. $35.00

13th Airborne Division - with Green Edge - No Tab

1UP-2. 2-1/4-inch wide x 3-inch high fully embroidered blue patch with a light olive border edge, depicting a gold embroidered winged Unicorn. Unfortunately we do not have the proper WW2 Airborne tab for this patch. Activated in August 1943, sent to the European Theatre of Operations in January of 1945 and assigned to the 1st Allied Airborne Army. The unit was assigned to take part in Operation Varsity but due to a lack of aircraft, never made it and was not actually involved in combat as a unit. In August 1945 the unit returned to the United States to prepare for duty in the Pacific, however, they were never sent because of the Japanese surrender. The 13th Airborne Division was deactivated in February 1946. Unused. Excellent+. $24.00

13th Airborne Patch with Attached Tab, No Space between Tab and Patch, On Khaki Shirt Material

1UP-2c. 2-inch wide x 3-1/2-inch high, fully embroidered blue patch depicting a, gold embroidered, winged Unicorn. The Airborne tab was made integral to the patch when it was manufactured and it is embroidered directly to the top edge of the patch. This example exhibits very insignificant signs of age and wear and only the very slightest hint of soil form handling and light use. The patch is still attached to a piece of khaki shirt material, (the material appears to be Army officer type tropical worsted wool), which completely covers the backside; machine stitching can be seen along the border edge on the front. A nice variation. SCARCE. Vg. $49.00

17th Airborne Division - Thunder From Heaven - Green Edge - No Tab
17abnotab.JPG (73257 bytes) 1UP-3. 2-1/2-inch diameter, fully embroidered black patch depicting an eagles talon in gold thread, within an olive drab border. Unfortunately we do not have the proper WW2 Airborne tab for this patch. The 17th Airborne was activated in April 1943. European Theatre of Operation August 1943 with additional training in England. The Unit was flown to The Reims area of France with the mission of stopping the German advance in the southern part of the Bulge. The Unit relieved the 28th division at Morhet, France and entered the Ardennes campaign at “Dead Mans Ridge,” advancing for three days, taking over 1,000 casualties each day.  Flamierge, Luxembourg, Ourthe River and Clervaux. The 17th Airborne was a major participant in the successful deployment of Operation Varsity, the landing of Allied Airborne troops behind enemy lines inside Germany near Wesel, Westphalia. Issel River, Haltern, Munster and on to the battle of the Ruhr Pocket. Crossing the Rhine-Herne Canal the 17th captured Essen, Mulheim and Duisberg in the heart of Germanys industrial area then, at the end of hostilities, a short period of occupation. 45 days in combat, in three campaigns with over 6,700 casualties. 17th Airborne Patch with Attached Tab and OD Fabric Between Tab and Patch

The Airborne tab was made integral to the patch when it was manufactured. The, rather large, space between the patch and the tab is an extension of the same OD cloth that the patch and tab is embroidered on and it has the appearance of, "HBT " (Herringbone Twill), cloth. This example is in excellent overall unused condition, except for a frayed area, on the border edge, near the left claw, which so often appears on some, WW2, cut edge patches, (nothing seriously detracting). 34th Infantry Division  - The Sandstorm Division - Also - The Red Bull Division  
34div.jpg (62815 bytes) 1UP-4. Patch is in the shape of a Mexican water jug, excellent defined design, and heavy quality embroidery characteristic of WW2 construction. Lower part of steer's jaw less than 1/4in from edge of patch, an important feature to determine a WW2 34th Inf Div patch. The first American division to be sent to the European Theatre, trained in Ireland for Operation Torch. November 1942 they landed in Algiers, North Africa, Tunisia, Operation Vulcan, heavy fighting for the Djebel Tahent Mountain. In Italy the unit fought at Salerno, Volturno River, Mount Patano, Gustav Line, Mount Trocchio, Cassino, Anzio and on to Rome. Livorno, Mount Belmonte and fought in the Bologna area until the Germans in Italy surrendered. The 34th Infantry division fought in five campaigns, 500 days in combat experiencing some of the worst fighting of the war, at a loss of over 16,400 casualties. Unused. Excellent+. $8.00
Noncombatant, "Civilian in the Field," Patch - 1st Design
noncomb.JPG (72910 bytes) 1UP-5. 4-1/2-inch wide x 4-1/2-inch high dark blue wool background with separately applied white triangle; the blue "US" letters are formed by cutting them put of the triangle. The edges of the patch are folded and sewn. This patch was designed to be worn by civilian employees of the U.S. Army, in all military missions, theatres and overseas garrisons so the wearer could easily be identified as a noncombatant; it was replaced by the, "Civilian in the Field" patch in 1944. No mothing. A very large and impressive looking patch. Unused. Excellent+. $19.00
71st Infantry Division – The Red Circle Division
1UP-6. 2-1/2-inch diameter, fully embroidered white patch bearing the blue stylized number “71” within a red circle. European Theatre of Operation in January 1945. In March 1945 the unit relieved the 100th Division at Ratswiller. Siegfried Line, Rhine River crossing at Oppenheim. Hart Mountains to Coburg then to the Munich-Berlin Autobahn capturing Bayreuth. Schonfeld, Rosenberg, Naab River, Danube River, Regensburg, Bavaria and into Austria, meeting the Russians. Occupation duty in Augsburg. 62 days in combat, one campaign, at a cost of over 1100 casualties. Unused. Excellent. $7.00
26th Infantry Division – The Yankee Division 
1UP-7ae. Approximately 3-1/2-inch wide x 4-inch high, fully embroidered, diamond shaped, olive drab patch depicting, heavy, blue embroidered “YD,” (Yankee Division), monogram style letters. Pre-WW2, the 26th Division was allocated to the Massachusetts National Guard at Camp Edwards; they were activated in January 1941. In August 1944 they embarked for the European Theatre of Operations, landing at Cherbourg and Utah beach in September 1944. Carteret, Siouville, Nancy, Moncourt Woods, Dieuze, Saar River, Maginot Line, Battle of the Bulge. Rambrouch, Arsdorf, Wiltz River, Grumselsheid, Saarlautern, Rhine River, Hanau, Main River Bridgehead, into Linz, Austria and onto Czechoslovakia. Four campaigns, 210 days in combat at a loss of over 10,700 men. Extremely light and very insignificant signs of age from being bundled up for the past 64-years, or so. A beautiful example. Unused. Excellent. $8.00 
26th Infantry Division – The Yankee Division - Unique Cotton Whipcord Variation

1UP-7cc. Approximately 3-1/4-inch wide x 3-7/8-inch high, tan colored, diamond shaped, thin, whipcord material patch; (whipcord is a cotton fabric with a very distinct diagonal rib); the whipcord feature can be clearly seen in the expanded images. The patch depicts, heavy, blue embroidered “YD,” (Yankee Division), monogram style letters. A unique and somewhat scarce variation of the 26th Infantry Division patch. Unused. Excellent. $29.00

5th Army

1UP-8. 2-1/2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high patch, depicting a blue Moroccan mosque with superimposed letter “A” and number “5” on a red background. Headquartered in Morocco the unit entered combat at the Gulf of Salerno and fought at Naples, the Gustav Line, Rome, Arno River, Gothic Line and Po valley. 604 days of continuous combat in the Italian Campaign.   Unused. Excellent. $8.00

1UP-8c. Same description as above, moderate to heavy signs of age and wear; the patch is used and has been removed from a uniform, remnants of the original sewing thread still remains. The patch has been laundered. An acceptable representative example. About good. $4.00
45th Infantry Division - The Thunderbird Division

1UP-9. Approximately 3-1/4-inch x 3-1/4-inch diamond shaped, fully embroidered, patch depicting a golden/yellow, “Thunderbird,” (eagle), superimposed on a red background. Originally formed from the Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado National Guard. North Africa, assault landing at Sicily, Operation Husky, Assault landing at the Gulf of Salerno, Volturno River, assault landing at Anzio, Operation Shingle, Cassino, Rome, Operation Anvil, Assault landing at Cannes, France, Moselle River, Vosges, Rambervillers, Mortange River, Maginot Line, Metz, Siegfried Line, Homburg, Rhine River, Nurnberg, Danube River, Munich; liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp and onto occupation duty. The 45th Division fought 511 days of combat in eight campaigns with a loss of over 20,990 men. Nice heavy embroidery. A very popular patch that has become somewhat difficult to find. Unused. Excellent. $9.00

83rd Infantry Division – The Thunderbolt Division
83infvar.JPG (51605 bytes) 1UP-10. Approximately 2-1/2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high fully embroidered black patch, depicting the gold monogrammed letters, “OHIO.” Activated in August of 1942. In April 1944, The unit embarked for the European Theater of Operations; they trained in England and landed on Omaha Beach on June 18, 1944. They entered battled and entered Carentan in 8-days. St. Lo, Chateauneunf, St. Malo, and St. Servan Fortress. In September of 1944, elements of the Division had reached Luxembourg and Remich on the Moselle River. Siegfried Line, Operation Unicorn, Stromberg Hill, Huertgen Forest, Ardennes, Operation Grenade, Roer River, Rhine river, Operation Elashpoint, Elbe River, Hartz Mountains, Magdeburg, crossing the Elbe and establishing a bridgehead 54 miles from Berlin, making the 83rd the closest American unit to the capitol of Germany. The 83rd was ordered to withdraw its positions and allow the Russians to occupy this area. Five Campaigns, 244 days in combat, at a cost of over 15,900 casualties. Unused. Excellent. $9.00 
83rd Infantry Division – The Thunderbolt Division
1UP-10c. Approximately 2-1/2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high, same description as above, except moderate signs of age and wear no soil; the front has a somewhat crude embroidery and the backside has overall remnants of rubber cement from being glued in a scrapbook. A very acceptable representative example. Appears to be unused. About Vg. $5.00
90th Infantry Division “TO” - Tough Ombres Division, AKA, The Texas & Oklahoma Division 
1UP-11azx. 2-1/4-inch wide x 2-1/4-inch high fully embroidered olive colored patch depicting a, heavily embroidered, monogram style, red letter, “T,” and the letter, “O,” on its side. Activated in 1942, Landed on Utah Beach on June 6, 1944, D-Day. Pont’Abbe, Douve River, Forer de Mont Castre, Periers, Sarthe River, Le Mans, Champois, Falaise Pocket, Metz, Moselle River, Saar River, Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, Siegfried Line, Prum River, Mainz, Rhine River, Hof, into Czechoslovakia and onto occupation duty in Germany. Five campaigns, 308 days in combat, at a loss of 19,200 men. This specimen is a real beauty. Unused. Excellent. $9.00
1st Army 

1UP-12ax. Approximately 2-1/4-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high, fully embroidered olive drab patch with a large, black embroidered letter “A;” The First Army arrived in England in 1943 in preparation of the invasion of France. Some elements of the First Army landed on Utah and Omaha Beach, on D-Day June 6, 1944. The First Army fought at Cherbourg, St. Lo, Falaise Pocket, Liberation of Paris, Northern France, Aachen, Huertgen Forest, Cologne, Ramagen Bridge, and the Ruhr Pocket. Units of the First Army were credited with being First on the Normandy beaches, First to breakout of the beachhead, First to enter Paris, First to crack the Siegfried Line, First to cross the Rhine and First to meet up with the Russians. In 1945 the First Army Headquarters proceeded to the Pacific Theatre of Operation in preparation for the invasion of the Japanese mainland and reached Manila when the Japanese surrendered. The First Army fought in five campaigns, 337 days in combat in Europe. Nice heavy embroidery with "whitish" backside; a beauty. Unused. Excellent. $8.00

1st Army
1UP-12azm. Approximately 2-1/4-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high, fully embroidered olive drab patch with a large, black embroidered letter “A.” Same description as above, except this example exhibits very light signs of age and use. Normal backside. Nice. Vg+. $7.00
1st Army - Greenback Variation 
1UP-12b. Approximately 2-1/4-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high, fully embroidered olive drab patch with a large, black embroidered letter “A.” The reverse of this example exhibits an overall olive green thread backing of particular interest to patch collectors.  Light signs of age from handling and light use; this patch has been removed from a uniform, light indications of hand stitching still remain. A very nice example. Vg. $19.00 
OD Wool 1st Army Patch With, Scarlet, Field Artillery Branch of Service Color
1UP-12cam. Approximately 2-5/8-inch wide x 3-1/2-inch high, tapered, olive drab wool patch, bearing an embroidered black letter “A;” the center of the “A” is embroidered scarlet, which is the Branch of Service color for Army Field Artillery Units. The scarlet center has a horizontal line style of embroidery. This patch is part of a series of 1st Army patches with different Branch of Service colors embroidered in the center of the “A;” which provides a fertile ground of collecting interest. The backside of the patch exhibits a heavy, off-white, black and red stitching. The First Army arrived in England in 1943 in preparation of the invasion of France. Some elements of the First Army landed on Utah and Omaha Beach, on D-Day June 6, 1944. The First Army fought at Cherbourg, St. Lo, Falaise Pocket, Liberation of Paris, Northern France, Aachen, Huertgen Forest, Cologne, Ramagen Bridge, and the Ruhr Pocket. Units of the First Army was credited with being First on the Normandy beaches, First to breakout of the beachhead, First to enter Paris, First to crack the Siegfried Line, First to cross the Rhine and First to meet up with the Russians. 1st Army Patch Variation with, Orange & White, Signal Units Branch of Service Colors and Early Horizontal & Vertical Lines of Embroidery

1UP-12eam. Approximately 2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high, fully embroidered olive green patch, depicting a large, black embroidered letter “A;” the center of the “A” is embroidered orange, with a white border, which is the Branch of Service colors for Army Signal Units; very nice embroidery, showing horizontal and vertical lines of construction. A highly collected patch that is part of a series of First Army patches that depict Army Branch of Service colors embroidered within the center of the “A.” Unused. Excellent. $24.00

Approximately 2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high, fully embroidered olive green patch, depicting a large, black embroidered letter “A;” the center of the “A” is embroidered yellow, which is the Branch of Service color for Army Cavalry Branch of Service; very nice embroidery, showing horizontal and vertical lines of construction. The backside of this example has insignificant paper and glue from once being  in a scrap book, (nothing of a serious nature). A highly collected patch that is part of a series of First Army patches that depict Army Branch of Service colors embroidered within the center of the “A.” Unused. Near excellent. $20.00 SOLD

1UP-12ham. Approximately 2-inch wide x 2-3/4-inch high, fully embroidered olive green patch, depicting a large, black embroidered letter “A;” the center of the “A” is embroidered maroon, with a white border, which is the Branch of Service colors for Army Medical Units; very nice embroidery, showing horizontal and vertical lines of construction. A highly collected patch that is part of a series of First Army patches that depict Army Branch of Service colors embroidered within the center of the “A.” Unused. Excellent. $24.00

1st Army Patch Variations with Branch of Service Colors and Early Horizontal Lines of Embroidery- Removed From Manufacturers Sample Book

 

The following four patches are approximately 2-1/4-inch wide x 3-inch high, the patches are fully embroidered, olive green patches, depicting a large, black embroidered letter “A;” the center of the “A” is embroidered with specific Branch of Service colors; each patch is very nicely embroidered and the inside of the “A” exhibits horizontal lines of embroidery. These patches were removed from a manufacturers sample book; each patch has a vertical staple mark on the center horizontal cross bar of the letter “A;” the staple has left an impression in the fabric, as well as a light rust mark from the metal staple, but nothing overly serious. The reverse of each patch exhibits an overall olive green thread backing, which is of particular interest to patch collectors. Each patch is in excellent unused condition except for the staple situation and can serve as an excellent representative example. (The front of Item# 1UP-12iam, appears to have a black center; the center is actually green and it is the standard 1st Army patch).

32nd Infantry Division –The Red Arrow Division 
1UP-13maz. 3-1/4-inch long, red embroidered patch, cut-out in the shape of a “barbed,” arrow. Pre-WW2 the 32nd Division was a Michigan and Wisconsin National Guard unit. In 1942, after additional training, they embarked for Port Moresby, New Guinea in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in support of Australian units, already there, fighting the Japanese. The 32nd Infantry Division saw combat at Port Moresby, Owen-Stanley Mountain Range, Buna-Sananda, Saidor, Aitape, Drinumor River' in the Philippines the 32nd saw combat at Morotai, Leyte, Yamashita Line, Luzon, Lingayen Gulf, Balete Pass, Imugan, Baguio and did occupation duty in Japan. The 32nd Infantry Division spent an incredible 654 days in combat, in two campaigns, with a loss of over 7,260 men. An interesting design. Unused. Excellent. $7.00 SOLD

1UP-14. 2-1/2-inch, diamond shaped fully embroidered patch embroidered patch a stylized black letter “W,” (Western), golden rising sun and red sky. The unit was assigned to the defense of the nine most western states. Unused. Excellent. $7.00

1UP-14a. Same description as above, light signs of age from handling, light horizontal and vertical lines of embroidery; a nice soft and flexible feel to the material. Nice. Vg. $6.00

1UP-14c. Same description as above, moderate to near heavy overall age, moderate wear, as well as, even, moderate soil. The patch is used and has been removed from a uniform; minor remnants of original sewing thread still remain. Moderate signs of glue on the backside from being in a scrapbook. Good. $5.00 
Anti Aircraft Command – Eastern Defense Command
1UP-14dcc. 2-1/2-inch, bowed, triangle shaped red embroidered patch depicting gold, stylized letters, “AAAC,” (Anti Aircraft Artillery Command). The unit was assigned to the defense of New England and Northeastern states as far as the Mississippi River, South to Kentucky, Virginia and Northeast parts of North Carolina. Unused. Excellent. $8.00

1UP-14f. 2-1/2-inch, bowed, triangle shaped red embroidered patch depicting gold, stylized letters, “AAAC,” (Anti Aircraft Artillery Command). Same description as above, except this example exhibits moderate to near heavy signs of age, wear and soil. There is a very minor bit of glue on the backside from being in a scrapbook. A very nice representative example. Used, Vg-.$5.50

AaaEastGb1var.JPG (63361 bytes) 1UP-14k. 2-1/2-inch, bowed triangle shaped red embroidered patch depicting gold, stylized letters, “AAAC,” (Anti Aircraft Artillery Command). Same description as above, except The backside exhibits an overall green thread that is of particular interest to patch collectors. The front of the patch exhibits moderate signs of age, light wear, as well as moderate soil from actual use. The patch has been removed from a uniform; numerous remnants of original sewing thread still remain. Used. About Vg. $15.00 
Anti Aircraft Command – Central Defense Command
1UP-14m. 1-1/4-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high, elliptical shaped patch with pointed ends, depicting two, crossed, golden yellow spears embroidered on a red field with olive colored triangles on each side if the spears where they cross, as well as an olive colored border. The unit was assigned the defense of the nine central states of Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North & South Dakota and Wyoming. One of the more unusually shaped patches, as compared to other U.S. military patches. A very difficult patch to find. VERY SCARCE. Unused. Excellent. $24.00 
Set Of Six Army Overseas Bars - Gold Bars Embroidered On OD Wool
osbars.JPG (46293 bytes) 1 UP-15. A 1-5/8-inch wide strip of OD wool, embroidered with a 1-3/8-inch wide x 1/4-inch high yellow/gold thread overseas service bar. One gold bar signifies six months overseas service. Label on original package marked, " Bars. Service, Overseas, Wool, Quantity, (no amount), 1340-26-1314, Stock No. 71-B1252-44, U.S. Army Spec. No. 6-246A, Sten-Tobler Co., Inc., P.O. 11854 - 1/26/45, Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot." This insignia was used by officer and enlisted persons; it's worn on the lower left sleeve of the Ike jacket and four pocket dress jacket. Minimum, strip of 6-bars, which is enough for a few uniforms. Unused. Mint condition. $7.50. Additional bars may be purchased @ $1.00 per bar over six. 
Army 3-Year Service Stripe, (Hash Mark)
Hashmark.JPG (55001 bytes) 1UP-15d. Approximately 3/8-inch wide x 2-1/2-inch, long olive drab, stripe heavily embroidered on a blue/black wool background. This stripe is authorized for wear, on a diagonal, beneath the overseas bars, on the lower left sleeve of the Ike jacket and the four-pocket dress jacket and signifies three years of Army service. The insignia is sometimes called a, “hash mark,” or affectionately called an, “idiot stripe.” The examples that we have, exhibit light signs of age and have insignificant signs wear, with no soil; they have been removed from a uniform and have signs of machine sewing and remnants of original sewing thread. Somewhat difficult to find when you need one. Used. Vg. $6.00
