5UP-57. 2-1/4-inch wide x 3-1/4-inch high shield shaped, fully embroidered
green patch with an olive green border. Patch depicts a red sword, taken from
the flag of Iran and a white star with seven points taken from the flag of
Iraq. Instituted in 1942 and headquartered in Teheran, Iran; the commands
purpose was to insure the flow of supplies to Russia. Extremely light and
insignificant age
from handling and many possibly have been sewn on a uniform at one time,
it's difficult to tell. Nice. Near

| Thirteenth Corps
(XIII) |

5UP-58. Approximately
2-1/4-inch diameter, fully embroidered, olive drab patch depicting a red
embroidered triangle superimposed on a green 4-leaf clover. The 13th
Corps was activated on the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor and trained
various units for overseas duty until July 1944 when it embarked for the
European Theatre of Operation. The unit trained in England for a short
time then landed on Omaha Beach on the 28th of September.
Proceeding through Belgium and Holland, the Corps participated in fighting
in the area of the Roer River Line near Beeck and Lindern, The unit
secured Leiffarth, Linnich, Lindern, Flossdorf, Wuerm and Muellendorf.
With the 9th Army the 13th Corps participated in
Operation Grenade, the assault crossing of the Roer River. On its advance
to the Rhine River the Corps seized
Baal, Hottorf, Koffern, Dovern and
Erkelenz. The Corps crossed the Rhine River and participated in the drive
east to secure the plains of Northern Germany. Reaching the Elb River the
Corps engage the German Clausewitz Division. In May of
1945 the 13th Corps met Russian troops. The Corps returned to
the US in 1945 for duty ion the Pacific Theater of Operation, however, the
Japanese surrender made further action by the Corps needless. The 13th

embroidered, patch with blue and white diagonal lines and a medium colored
olive
drab border. The 3rd Infantry
Division was already an active
regular army unit when the U.S. entered WW2. North Africa, Bizerte, Sicily, Volturno River, Cassino, Anzio, Rome, St. Tropez, Rhine River,
Battle of the Bulge, Colmar Pocket, Siegfried Line, Nurnberg, Munich,
Salzburg. 531 days in combat in seven campaigns, highest casualties of any
American division, loosing nearly 26,000 men. The front and backside are in excellent condition. A very popular patch, always in demand.

embroidered, patch with blue and white diagonal lines and a medium colored

handling and storage; the patch does not appear to have been used. The
backside has moderate, overall, contact cement from being glued in a

5UP-60. This fully embroidered 2-inch square award was worn
on the lower right sleeve it was awarded to US and Allied units for
exceptional meritorious conduct and for performing outstanding service for
six months during military operations against an armed enemy from January
1, 1944 to the end of the war. A very high honor for the units and
individuals that were allowed to wear this award. Very minor
storage age, as well as, minor fuzziness on the border, (in some spots),

5UP-60b. 2-inch square patch with a yellow/gold thread wreath
embroidered on, what appears to be, olive green cotton material that is
similar in appearance to U.S. cotton fatigue material. The border edge of
the patch is trimmed with double lines of dark olive green embroidery,
(not merrowed). The backside has a salmon colored ribbed material, which
is similar to the color and material found on some Italian made U.S.
patches. The patch exhibits insignificant signs of age. A very

5UP-60c. 2-inch square patch with a yellow/gold,
silk like, thread wreath embroidered on an unusual grayish/green material.
The border edges of the patch are trimmed with zigzag stitching, (not
merrowed). The backside has a unique vertical stitching. The patch
exhibits light signs of age; some minor wear on the corners and a very
small wear spot on the bottom edge, as well as a couple of tiny insect
bites, (nothing at all detracting). A very unique variation.

5UP-61. Approximately 2-1/8-inch diameter
olive green patch depicting a black embroidered “W” within a black
circle. European Theatre of Operation landing in LeHavre, France in 1945
and attached to the 3rd Army. Sauer River, Moselle River, Glan
River, Rhine River, Operation Plunder, Thuringia, Friedrichrode, Central
Germany, Mulde River, Stopping and holding at the Czechoslovakia
border. Two campaigns 57-days in combat at a loss of over 1,000 men. A

Infantry Division – The Victory Division |

5UP-62. 2-3/8-inch diameter fully embroidered patch depicting a ,
green, “Taro Leaf ” with a yellow border, on a red background with a
black border. At the beginning of WW2, the 24th Infantry
Division was a regular army unit headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, at
Schofield Barracks. The Division sustained minor casualties during the
bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941. The 24th
was assigned the defense of Northern Oahu against an enemy invasion. In
September 1942, the Division moved to the east coast of Australia where it
received training in Jungle warfare, as well as preparation for the
“Reckless Task Force” landing on Blue Beach in Tanahmerah Bay, Dutch
New Guinea where the 24th captured the Japanese air base at
Hollandia. In 34 days of fighting the 24th captured the Sorido
and the Borokoe airfields, killing or capturing over 2,200 Japanese in the
process. In October 1944 the Division made assault landings on Red Beach
near Taclcban, Leyte, capturing Jaro as well as, capturing a large
Japanese force at “Break Neck Ridge,” near Pinamopoan. Elements of the
24th Infantry Division were assigned to the Western Visayan
Task Force, landing on the south coast of Mindoro, and participated in the
capture of Marinduque Islanad. Elements of the Division also joined the 11th
Airborne for attacks on Manila; made assaults at Subic Bay; fought at
“Zig-Zig Pass” and participated in amphibious landings on Corregidor.
On the Philippine Island of Mindanao the 24th captured Digos
and captured fortified Japanese positions at Davao, as well as the Libby
airfield. The 24th continued mopping up actions well after the
Philippine campaign officially ended, and then went to occupation duty in
Japan. The Division fought in three campaigns at a loss of over 7,000 men.
A beautiful patch that has a nice soft and flexible feel.

5UP-62a. 2-1/8-inch diameter fully embroidered patch depicting a ,
green, “Taro Leaf ” with a yellow border, on a red background with a
black border; same description as above, except this example exhibits
moderate to heavy signs of wear around the black border edge; the center
of the patch has light signs of age, wear and very insignificant light
soil. This patch is used and has been removed from uniform; minor
remnants of original sewing thread still remain. The patch has a
nice soft and flexible feel, as well as a very nice, "salty"

Infantry Division - The Cactus Division |

5UP-63. Approximately 2-3/4-inch diameter, nice
quality, fully embroidered golden yellow patch with a green border. The
patch depicts a, green Saguaro cactus, sitting on a blue
base. The
103rd Infantry Division was activated in 1942; they arrived in
the European Theatre of Operation in 1944. Some elements arrived in
Marseille where they relieved the 3rd Division. Entering battle
at St. Die. Fought at Saverne Gap, Voseges Mountains to the Alsace Plain.
Captured Diefenbach and Selestat, crossed the Zintzel and Lauter Rivers.
The 103rd was credited with being the first Division of the
Seventh Army to cross into Germany. Siegfried
Line, Ardennes, Sarregue Mines, Reichtshofen, Soufflenheim, Sauer River,
Soufflenheim, Moder River, Muhlhausen, Rhine Valley, and Fresbach. In
southern Germany the 103rd hunted German forces into Stuttgart,
Munsinger, the Danube River and Ulm; at Landsburg the 411 Infantry
Regiment of the 103rd Infantry Division liberated the
concentration camp there. The 103rd captured Innsbruck, Austria
and pushed to the Brenner Pass. Occupation duty in Austria. 147 days in
combat in two campaigns. With a loss of over 4550 men.

Infantry Division Patch - The Cactus Division - German Made for U.S.
Troops During the Occupation |

5UP-63d. 2-3/8-inch diameter golden yellow patch
with a
green border, depicting a green Saguaro cactus, sitting on a blue base.
The patch is embroidered in one of the distinct styles of those patches
that were manufactured in Germany, for the U.S. occupying forces. The
front of this example has a somewhat loose, and very slightly crude
embroidery style; the cactus is embroidered flat with heavier
highlighted lines around the outside edges of the cactus; the blue base
has a heavier embroidered line along the tope edge of the blue embroidery.
The backside has a very typical embroidery style usually found on patches made
in Germany during the WW2 occupation and not normally found on regular
U.S. embroidered patches. The patch is in excellent overall condition with
some very minor fraying on some parts of the outside OD border. An interesting
variation of the 103rd patch. Unused. Near excellent. $15.00 |

5UP-64. 2-1/8-inch
wide x 2-7/8-inch high; red patch with a white center stripe,
(Austrian National Colors),
depicting a blue olive branch superimposed on a blue vertical sword; light
olive colored border. This patch was worn by personnel
serving in Austria at the very end of WW2. Headquarters for the American
Forces in Austria unit was located in Vienna until 1952 and was moved to Salzburg
where it remained until 1955 when it was deactivated in

5UP-64c. 1-7/8-inch wide x 2-7/8-inch high; red patch with a white center stripe,
depicting a blue olive branch superimposed on a blue vertical sword; light
olive colored border. This example also has the early "Vienna"
tab. The front of the patch and tab exhibits moderate, to near heavy signs
of age and wear with virtually no soil. The patch and tab are used and
show signs of stitch marks from being sewn on a uniform and has a
somewhat, "salty," appearance. Difficult to find with

| 106th Infantry
Division - The Golden Lion Division |
 |
5UP-65. 2-1/2-inch diameter high quality
fully embroidered patch; central design features a heavily embroidered
golden lion head. There are many manufacturing variations in the
embroidery of the lion’s head which makes this a sought after patch for
collectors. Activated
in March 1943, arrived in France December 1943. Shortly after their
arrival they were heavily involved in the German winter offensive.
Suffering a German break through, two of the Divisions Regiments fought
until they were completely out of food and ammunition. Other units of the
106th fought a delaying action, along with units of the 7th
Armored Division that stalled the German attack allowing time for U.S.
replacements and equipment to arrive at the battle area. At the end of
December 1944 the unit assembled in Belgium for refitting. In January 1945
the unit returned to fierce fighting at the front. As the war progressed
to its end, large numbers of German were surrendering; the 106th
was assigned the task of guarding and administrating over massive amounts
of prisoners of war. After a period of occupation duty in 1945, the
106th was deactivated. 63 days in combat in three campaigns with over
8,600 casualties, most in the Ardennes Campaign. A

23rd Infantry Division - Americal Division |

5UP-66. 2-1/8-inch wide x 2-5/8-inch high,
blue, shield shaped, patch with four white stars, representing the stars of the Southern Cross
constellation.
The front of the patch exhibits light signs of age and a little wear to
the stars; the stars are large and heavily embroidered; they are a
little "fuzzy" looking from handling and possible very light
use. Activated in May 1942,
consisting
of National Guard units from Illinois, Massachusetts and North
Dakota. Pacific Theatre of Operations, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal,
Henderson Field, Matanikan River, Mount Austen, Kohumbona and an
amphibious assault at Verahue. In 1943 the 23rd Infantry
Division was assigned the task of defending, Viti Levu, the main island of
the Fiji Island chain. In December 1943 the unit landed on Bougainville,
relieving the 3rd Marine Division, holding their positions, and
repulsing the Japanese. Onto the Philippines; Leyte, Samar, Macarite
Island,
Biri Island, Visayan Island landings, Ceby City, Bohol, Negros, and
Mindanao. The unit prepared for Operation Olympic, the invasion of the
Japanese southern islands; however the Japanese surrender made this
operation unnecessary. Short period of occupation on the Japanese
mainland. The 23rd, Americal Division participated in two
campaigns at a cost of over 4,000 men. Possibly used. Vg $7.00 SOLD |
