U.S. GI 20mm Trench Art Bank On Plexiglas Stand
20mmbank.JPG (23189 bytes) 1USH-1. Approximately 7-1/2-inch high U.S. WW2 20mm empty brass shell with solid steel head, on a 2-5/8-inch diameter x 1/4-inch thick Plexiglas base. A horizontal slit, cut into the brass shell just below the taper, allows a penny or dime to be inserted and stored in the body of the shell. Remove the head and the coins can be dumped out. The Plexiglas base, which is most likely aircraft canopy plastic, is screwed into the shell through the primer hole. Bottom of the shell marked, “20mm. M21A1, 1943, B.M.C.” the shell is empty and cannot possibly be made to fire or to be dangerous. Light to moderate overall age and tarnish. An Interesting And Useful Piece Of WW2 Trench Art. Army Style Eagle On A Gold Colored, Stylized, Bow – Sterling Silver

1USH-2. 1-3/16-inch wide x 9/16-inch high, silver colored, Army style eagle, which is separately applied on a stylized, gold colored, bow. The backside is stamped “sterling” and has a horizontal attaching pin with a roller lock pin catch. Very light signs of age, as well as light wear to the gold finish on the highlights from handling and use. Looks dramatically better in person than in he image. A very nice, conservative, piece of jewelry that could be worn today. Near Excellent.  $15.00

Sweetheart In The Service Pin - White Plastic

The word “Sweetheart” is above shield and “In The Service” is below the shield. Horizontal, metal attaching pin on back with an open plastic clasp. Overall surface rust on pin, otherwise in excellent condition.  $15.00 
WW2 Willys Jeep With Two Soldiers – Gold Painted Black Plastic Like Material

1USH-4. Approximately 2-1/2-inch wide x 1-1/8-inch high, thick, hard, plastic-like material, which is molded in the shape of a WW2 Willys Jeep with two GI occupants. The front of the Jeep, and its occupants, has its original gold painted finish, which exhibits light signs of age and has very light, dusty, soil in the crevices and low areas of the design; at least 99% of the original painted finish remains. The backside exhibits the black color of the plastic like material and has a horizontal needle type attaching pin with a plastic pin hinge and pin catch. Unique. Vg. $32.00

1USH-6. 1-3/4-inch x 1-1/8-inch oval pin wit black plastic cameo style center and an Army type eagle riveted in center; beaded gold colored metal frame. the backside has a horizontal attaching pin with an open pin catch. Light age and wear, as well as light scratches on plastic front, nothing seriously detracting. Vg.  $15.00

Approximately ¾-inch diameter, gold colored metal badge with lower banner; the central design depicts an eagle, superimposed on a sailing ship; the ship is surmounted with a white enamel letter, “E;” the central design is bordered by a narrow blue enameled border with 13-stars. The lower banner is embossed, “For production.” The front of the badge is in near excellent condition; it exhibits extremely light and insignificant signs of age, as well as moderate wear, to the gold finish, on the eagle’s chest and on the lettering on the banner. The backside exhibits light tarnish, minor surface scratches to the gold finish and is marked “Sterling;” it has a vertical attaching pin with a, flat, open metal pin catch. Overall. About Vg+. $12.00

1USH-8. 9/16-inch wide x 5/16-inch high gold pin with a red, white & blue enamel design depicting two blue stars on a white background with a red border, within a gold rectangular border. The two stars indicate having two sons or daughters in the armed services of the United States. The front has some very light and insignificant scratches that are not visible to the naked eye, (nothing at all of a serious nature). The gold backside is stamped, “10k TOP,” with a diamond shape makers logo and has a horizontal attaching pin with a roller lock pin catch. Just about excellent. $15.00 SOLD

169th Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division Porcelain Plaque
169PorclainPlaque.JPG (63548 bytes) 1USH-9. 4-1/4-inch wide x 5-3/4-inch high, porcelain covered steel plate depicting, in full color, the 169th Infantry Distinctive Regimental Insignia, (DI). The Regimental Insignia was approved on March 2, 1927. The white background stands for Infantry; the blue cross symbolizes Civil War service (North); the fleur-de-lis represents World War I service; the prickly pear cactus represents Mexican Border duty.  The top portion of the plaque depicts a gold lion on a red background, representing Revolutionary War service against the "Red Coats", the lion is taken from the British arms. The motto on the lower banner, “ARMIS STANT LEGES,” translates, “Laws are maintained by Force of Arms.” The 43rd Division participated in the Southwest Pacific Theatre of Operations and saw combat in the Russell Islands, Rendova Island, New Georgia, Arundel Island, New Guinea, and the Philippines and arrived in Japan for occupation duty on 13 Sept 1945. The Division fought in three campaigns sustaining over 6000 casualties. The plaque exhibits overall light to moderate signs of age wear and use; there are signs of darkening and light rust beneath the porcelain surface, as well as, light surface cracking and chips around some the mounting holes. The backside is blackened from the porcelain process and has light to moderate spots of rust. This is not a, contemporary, new made piece; we acquired it, recently, in a veteran’s souvenir accumulation. Overall about Vg. $10.00
Fort Monmouth U.S.A. Enameled Army Air Corps Sweater Pin

1USH-10. A small, red, white and blue enameled “U.S.A. Fort Monmouth” pin, 3/4-inch long x 3/8-inch high, connected, by a short length of fine jewelry chain, to a gold colored AAF winged prop pin. Normally worn on a women’s sweater or blouse collar in recognition of a loved one. Backside of each pin has a small horizontal pin with roller pin catch. Unmarked. Very light wear and tarnish to finish on wing, the enamel is perfect, no chips or other damage. Nice. Vg+. $20.00 SOLD

Army – Navy E-Production Award Pin – Full Size Sterling Silver Example

1USH-11. This pin was part of the U.S. Government award system, during WW2, providing recognition to the men and women working in the home front factories that provided war materiel. When the factory reached a level of production excellence they were awarded an “E-Pennant” to fly over the factory and the employees were awarded the pin, which was considered a coveted badge of patriotism. Approximately 1-1/4-inch wide x 5/8-inch high, the pin exhibits moderate to heavy age and tarnish; the painted surfaces are chipped and cracked. The backside is clean and mostly untarnished; the backside is embossed, “Army-Navy Production Award, Sterling.” Horizontal attaching pin with roller clasp. One of the classic WW2 patriotic pins. About Good+. $8.00

Handmade Heart Engraved, “New Guinea 1944, Sister, ” Reverse Engraving on Clear Plexiglas

1USH-12. 1-3/8-inch wide x 1-1/2-inch high x about 1/8-inch thick Plexiglas heart, which was, most likely, shaped from available Plexiglas from WW2 aircraft canopies and windows. The heart is very nicely formed and shaped on the front then the design and lettering is carefully and artistically carved backwards, by hand, on the flat backside; Various color paints are applied to the carved areas and lettering; when the paint is dry the backside is covered with a neutral color, in this case, white; the design then appears as a normal picture on the front. The thickness and rounded edges of the heart give the design a 3-dimentional effect. This specimen has a thin wire loop affixed to the top center of the heart so the heart could be worn as a necklace. The front of the heart exhibits minor scuffs from handling and actual use; the painted design is 99.5% intact; some of the white paint on the backside is starting to crack, but it’s not a serious problem. A very nice, hand made, piece of sweetheart jewelry that’s quite unique. SCARCE. Vg+. $25.00 SOLD

Army – Navy E-Production Award Pin – Small Size

American Red Cross Volunteer, Motor Corps Pin Used From 1923 Through 1946

1USH-14. Approximately 1-inch diameter, slightly vaulted, American Red Cross Volunteer, Motor Corps, pin. A handsome enameled design consisting of, a red cross in the center, on a white circle with gold spokes, (gives the appearance of a wheel), which is surrounded by a green border bearing gold lettering, “American Red Cross Volunteer,” (unfortunately, the lower wording did not show up in the scan); a thin gold edge borders the green circle. The front exhibits very slight signs of age, as well as some very light and insignificant surface scratches in the enamel consistent with very light handling and use, (no actual chips or deep scratches). The convex backside has, what appears to be, a tiny rivet head in the center, and has a horizontal attaching pin with a roller lock pin catch. A beautiful example. Excellent. $24.00

American Red Cross Volunteer, General Enrollment Pin – 1943

1USH-14a. 1-inch diameter American Red Cross Volunteer pin, constructed of a, blue/gray painted wood disk covered with blue/gray cloth, embroidered with a red cross on a white circle, in the center, with red embroidered lettering, “American Red Cross Volunteer;” the face of the badge has a protective plastic covering, this style badge was used in 1943.. The front and backside of the badge are in excellent condition, except, the plastic covering has shrunk or was damaged during use; the plastic has a crack starting at the top center and travels to the left for about ½-inch. The backside has a horizontal attaching pin with a thin roller lock pin catch. A very nice representative example. $9.00 SOLD

Curtiss Wright Aircraft Workers Production Award, Production Soldier 100%, - Sterling Silver

Approximately 1-inch wide x 5/8-inch high gilt, sterling silver, wing bearing a circular center of blue and white enamel, with blue enamel, lower scroll. The blue enameled center is marked, “Curtiss Wright;” the white enameled outer ring is marked, “Production Soldier;” and the lower, blue enameled scroll is marked, “100%.” A production quota award given to deserving workers who built the P-40 fighter and the C-46 Curtiss Commando troop carrier airplane. The wings exhibit very light tarnish and very light wear, to the gilt finish, on some of the highlights, maybe 90%, or more, of the original gilt finish still remain. The enamel is in excellent condition, it’s not chipped or cracked; it does have, one, very light and insignificant scratch that is not visible to the naked eye. The backside has some moderately tarnished spots and is marked, in raised letters, “B. B. Co. Roch. N.Y.,” it has a horizontal attaching pin with a roller lock pin catch. A very handsome badge. Excellent. $28.00
